This isn’t done yet (detailing/masking removed), just waiting for dick blick to get me my interference paint! But here is the start/middle of my PINK Wolf:
As always feel free to comment if something feels off to you.

January 18, 2007 at 2:34 pm #529113Oh, but you’ll love it when you do, Ski! Nice work, Cheryl. I’m glad you decided to try painting – you’re good!
January 18, 2007 at 2:53 pm #529114it turned out better than I thought it would but I messed up a couple of spots- bought 2 more 00 brushes too for the detailing- who knew liquid gold leaf would ruin a paint brush?? pfft.
Ski, I think you might care for her- but she’s not the white wolf with pink wings you thought of.
January 18, 2007 at 2:55 pm #529115The pink intereference on her fur is perfect. What color are her eyes?
January 18, 2007 at 2:58 pm #529116Eyes are brown- and funny you should mention it- that’s not interference paint- that’s dry brushing with a matte finish pink I mixed on a pearl undercoat. And yes, every shade of pink- I mixed myself with white and red!! I’m proud of that- I got the shades I wanted π
The nose- it was pink like on the bottom of the wings but I didn’t like it, now it’s gold…still don’t know if I like it but I don’t think I can change it.
January 18, 2007 at 2:58 pm #529117Even more impressive. I can’t wait to see your purple version. π

I’ll probably do a purple griffin instead of a wolf.

That’s because the liquid stuff is more like spraypaint than gold (there’s no gold in it, usually it’s a brass alloy with metal flakes). It’s enamel-based I think (smells crazy doesn’t it??) and you either have to use a junk brush or use paint thinner/turps to clean your brush afterward or it turns into a punji-stick! π
It looks great so far! π

My art: featherdust.comJanuary 18, 2007 at 3:19 pm #529120Ya!!! The smell was God Awful- first thoughts were Ethylbenzene/xylene- pretty dangerous chemicals for putting on wolf toes! With enough washing in the paint brush washer I got most of it out then used a needle to clean the rest of the metal fibers out- nonetheless my round brush is no longer round. Hence the buying 2 more 00 brushes!
January 18, 2007 at 3:27 pm #529121I LOVE it Cheryl! Very nice!
I especially love the gold toenails!! π
She’s sweet… and demure… she’s awesome! π
January 18, 2007 at 3:32 pm #529122Thanks!
January 18, 2007 at 3:34 pm #529123I CAN SEE! Cheryl, that is pretty much exactly what I pictured! Its beautiful! I am so glad you decided to (Finally!) do one π
January 18, 2007 at 3:38 pm #529124Very nice….even though pink is just not my color…
