Well thanks to some very kind people on here, I have purchased my next Windstone after a lapse of over nearly a decade.
A very kind person purchased the two signed Michael Whelan blades from me and so I had the funds to go looking!I was on the Windstone main page and clicked on some links to look for dealers in my area. I realized it was indeed better to buy from a local seller than to buy from the website. The real problem with this, as you all know, is that a lot of the stores just aren’t carrying them anymore or seldom stock them.
I called about ten different stores and finally found one at a mall….it was one of those kiosks. The friendly Indian man there informed me that he DID have Windstones, and some were dragons!
So off I went, driving about an hour to get there. Upon arrival to the mall, one which I’d never been to before, I got to his kiosk and saw that he had literally FOUR Windstones. That’s right, FOUR. And, he had no plans anytime soon to order more.
He had a male and baby unicorn, and believe me I would have snatched those up, if it weren’t for the fact that I am just a dragon lover, through and through. The two remaining dragons were in emerald peacock…a male, and a scratcher.
Now, I was hoping to find the black/gold ones, but….peacock variations are also a favorite of mine (I love purple and green together) and I quickly learned that any Windstone dragon is far more stunning in person than what you see in pictures. This pretty boy’s blends of purple, blue, and green hues were singing out to me… “Yes, I’ve been here all this time, and I’m waiting for YOU!”
I have a scratcher already and since I was looking for males the choice was easy.
So, here is my first male, in glorious emerald peacock. He has broken a long lapse of wait in acquiring another Windstone, and you can be sure he’ll be with me a very long time! 😀 😀
I will not part with my draconic beauties, oh no!!Now I’m a shutterbug, so here’s a bunch of pics for ya! I need a better camera though…either that or better lighting. I think this apartment is too darn dark anyway, even when you open up blinds!
Standing tall…
With flash for comparison. (Notice how a lot of the deep purple is lost…)
Whatcha starin’ at?!
Is this my better side?
I have wings, but I won’t fly away from you! 🙂
Handsome face…bejeweled and all.
Dragon claws! RAWR!
Dragon tail!
Beauty is in the eye of the dragon. All right well, I hope you enjoyed this little story and pics! ^_^
So, I’m pretty certain I’ll be collecting emerald peacocks now, slowly but surely! 🙂
Or maybe not so slowly, with how addicting these things are… XD
With one on the way and another in my future (on layaway), I am one happy Windstone addict!August 26, 2009 at 9:19 pm #499102August 26, 2009 at 9:33 pm #780730He’s so handsome, congrats!! 8) I love my EmPeas, too. Don’t worry…..he’ll be the first of many new additions!

That is one of my favorite pieces–what I love about the Windstone dragons is their eyes–on the laps, they look so soft–doe like. So glad your are enjoying your dragon after a long absense! Enjoyed your story and will look for more of your picture stories! 😀

I was wondering about that. The sculpture has the year ’86 but the tag says 2000.
