That’s good new I am glad to hear it.
Just a quick update on Maks…he’s been doing Ok I guess, but he is eating like a monster lately, he’s always hungry and over the last 4 days he’s has dirreah and extremely smelly gas….since its not getting any better I called the vet today again and she suggested we pick up some powder that I guess is kinda like pro biotics cause. She also wants us to up one of his pills from 2 pills twice a day to 3 pills twice a day and she thinks that the reason he has such bad gas is due to his condition… 🙁 It must be so uncomfortable fro him… 🙁
But I guess we’ll try the powder and see if that helps him, I really hope so because we really need to stop the dirreah, I’m just worried that he’s going to start loosing his weight again… 🙁

So today his stool was a little bit better but i don’t know if its because he’s on that powder pro biotic stuff or if its because we stopped giving him the canned gastro… 😕
His farts were terrible and the whole house smelled like that canned gastro stuff so we decided to take him off it and now he’s just on the dry gastro whcih we moisen before we give it to him and his farts have gone away… 🙂 The other thing it may have been was that the canned gastro had chicken liver in it and the dry gastro has lamb…he might actually be alergic to chicken… 😕 But I just wanted to update this thread and I aM HOPING..it lasts … 🙂Marzena

Just wanted to do a quick update…Maks is still here, which is great but it has been really rough lately…he’s been experiancing alot of changes, that we have been noticing over the last while and we have been trying to figure things out to see if there is anything that we can do for him to help him…because our vet only has one answer for us…which is that all of this is now being caused by the prednesone.. 😕 Which is probably very true but we have found something on the internet about dogs who are on the drug for long periods of time can develop cushing disease…which our vet did not advise us of at all and all of the changes that we have been noticing in Maks are signs of Cushings… 😕

This is such a bummer about the Cushings–unfortunately with how Maks health has been going, it’s starting to be one thing after another. Poor baby! I know it’s hard taking care of a sick fur baby–we’re all pulling for Maks–wish he would get better. It just tears at your heart! 🙁

I just wanted to post a quick update on Maks…He’s been doing really well but he has had a few bad days which scared us a bit and at this point our vet has no idea what to think or what to do, she is amaized at the fact that he is still with us !
Lately we’re really noticing the signs of the Cushing tho, there is a spot on the front of his neck that has no hair at all and is just skin now… 🙁 I guess I’m just having a really hard time with noticing it, it’s just a constant reminder and worry for me now.
I have no idea what to do next, everywhere I’ve seen it says that dogs with his type of cancer have a very short adn limited life span and maybe its just me but i am starting to wonder if he might have been misdiagnosed… 🙄 But he’s been on prednisone for 8 months straight now and thats not a good thing either, I guess I’m just feeling kinda lost lately. I am very thankful tho that he’s still here and I hope that he will be here for a long time to come, I am just really concerend tho about the side effects of cushing now and our vet doesn’t seem to be much of any help lately. But I guess we will just have to wait and see and hope for the best.

I know it is so worrisome when a fur baby is sick and your vet is really besides themselves on what to do next! That would drive me bonkers as well! I hope the best for Maks–sorry this has been such a worry for you!

Thank you Ladyfirebird, I`m trying to stay positive and not think about it but thats easier said than done…..I guess I just wish this never happened in the first place or that there was something else we could do for him or give him instead of the prednisone. But I also know that if I stay positive it will hopefully keep him feeling positive too because I have learned now that dobermans are very suseptable to how their owners feel and it does affect them greatly, I guess most dogs are probably the same.

🙂 Thanks, I am not sure a recovery is possible but anything can happen I guess, I`m just glad he`s still with us and hope he`ll stay for a long while to come… 🙂

Animals (even humans) are such amazing creatures when they have love and support! Wether he’s correctly diagnosed or not, I’m glad that he’s still with us and has such an awesome family with you!
