🙁 My stomach is in a knot today…a couple of days ago Maks started turning his nose up at his canned food, he just doesn’t want to eat it, he is eating his dry food tho and the banana bread I make him every week. We have been cutting down on his predenesone also as per the vets request and now we have to up the dosage again… 🙁
We talked to the vet today and shes concerened now that the cancer might be progressing and he might be loosing his appetite… 😥
I am so worried and my stomach has been in a knot all day….I am so worried…. 😥
So now we are just going to up his dry food and hope for the best…which will probably just keep on getting worse… 😥
The vet said we can try to switch his canned food to something else or just give him more of the dry food…and I am just worried that he will throw up if we start giving him another canned food… 🙁Marzena
July 18, 2009 at 3:32 am #764407Another quick update…so he Maks seems to be better…we decided to keep him just on the dry food for now and we just upped the amount we give him…he seems to like it.
Oh and he threw up a stuffed animal ear…that might be why he was kinda mopey and maybe didn’t wanna eat his canned food…but since he was off the food for a little while we just decided to keep him off it…and he really seems to like the dry food anyway…soooo i am alot better now and all of this just feels like a roller coaster ride…it seems to be really stressful and i am just still trying to stay optomistic and hope for the best.

August 9, 2009 at 6:51 am #764411Just wanted to do a quick update on Maks….yesterday was a really bad day… 🙁
I am not sure what happened but Maks did not want to eat at all, not even the banana bread and he was really restless…all day long, he could not sit still and he kept on looking back at his belly area….
I know that when dogs are in paint they show certain signs and I know that his stomach was bothering him yesterday…He was eating grass like crazy and he threw up…there was nothing there except the grass and alot of liquid…no blood tho, thank goodness….
I dunno what it was, but at around 9pm he started feeling a bit better I guess, he did have alot gas tho and he looked a bit blowted… 😕
His stool was kinda slimey too, I have never seen that before…. 😕
We called our vet but shes on vacation till Monday and the other vet that was tehre had no idea they just suggested we gave him some different meds again and we decided not to…I really ahte giving him all these pills, I wish I could say that he just had some gas but I know that the reality is that the cancer might be spreading and growning… 😥
Anyway..today he seems to be doing alot better… 🙂 and I guess he will have good an bad days… 🙁Marzena
August 9, 2009 at 12:24 pm #764412He might have been a bit constipated from the meds. They do that sometimes. Hoping today is better. {Hugs}
August 9, 2009 at 3:12 pm #764413So sorry to hear that Maks isn’t feeling too well. It’s so hard when our fur babies get sick because we keep hoping they get better. Hopefully your regular can help–I do hope Maks will feel better [hugs] 🙁
August 9, 2009 at 5:47 pm #764414I hope Maks feels better soon.
August 9, 2009 at 6:04 pm #764415I am sorry to hear Maks is feeling worse but hope he will start to do bettter once again. I lost a dog to cancer but it was way up inside her mouth and the vet missed it. They didn’t find it until she collapsed and I had to let her go but she was a little over 12 years old which is a pretty long life for a chow.
August 9, 2009 at 11:16 pm #764416I hope Maks feels better, too. Sometimes pumping animals (or people) full of meds exacerbates the problem rather than fixes it.
August 24, 2009 at 3:40 am #764417So the last few days have been really rough…Maks was NOT doing well at all, we ended up taking him back to the vet because he started refusing his food and throwing up again. The vet suggested that we start him back up on all of the meds he was on in the begining, meaning the higher dosages etc and to make him rice and ground beef to see if he would eat that. He ate the ground beef but leaves the rice and he has really bad gas along with direah. On Friday he really wasn’t acting like himself at all and his tummy felt blowted so thats the day we took him to the vet. So now he is on the 3/4 of prednisone daily along with a full omeprasole and three times a day he also gets solcrate…. 🙄 Thsi is just killing me, I hate pumping him full of pills but he seems to be feeling better and he started eating his food again…the Gastro, so now we wait again to see, he stopped throwing up but he still has really bad gas and direah.
I just got over a nasty cold too that I have had for three weeks and today I feel like throwing up and my head is throbing…. :puke:

August 24, 2009 at 1:43 pm #764418Wish I could come and help ya. Hugs to you both. I know how hard it is when they are sick and you can only do so much. 🙁 I give my older horse stabilized rice bran. You might want to check with your Vet and see if you can use Rice baby food cereal instead of rice. It will mix in more thoroughly and be harder for Maks to separate.
For yourself pick up some Vitamin D3 and take 3000 IU’s a day during cold and flu season. 5000 when you are sick. And don’t forget your vitamin C 😀August 24, 2009 at 6:37 pm #764419And make sure you get plenty of rest! Thank you for the update, I hope Maks’ condition improves.
August 24, 2009 at 6:38 pm #764420I’m so sorry you have to go thru this. If you need us we are here!!
