The Baker’s Square and Outback restaurants in our city closed not that long ago. I heard that the Baker’s Square did not tell their employees, so when they came in to work, they found the doors locked and a note on the door, saying the place is closed. That’s even worse.
Is that even allowed? Over here you’ve got fixed lengths of time that employers have to give employees to find a new job. Closing down a business over night and saying, “That’s it, folks, no more pay starting today” would land the employer in front of a judge double quick.
it happens here all the time , we had a huge seafood restaurant do that to its employees a few years back. The place was only open a year and gave its employees the note on the door firing . Better yet people bought gift certificates for Xmas gifts and they were null and void , they were supposed to get the money back after the place went through littagation but i havent heard if they did or not
