Awhile back I purchased a broken grand unicorn with visions of having him turned into a seahorse. He has his horn, not attached, but pretty much no lower half..starting at his rear legs.
I’m now looking for someone who’s willing to give it a shot.
    Any takers?
I have photos of the damage, but cannot figure out how to get them attached.
PM or email me dragonstar@q.com with info and price. I would have to make payments as I know this will not be cheap or easy to do =)

Hi Leah, we have bunches of talented people here who will repair and you’d never know. I’d recommend Drag0nfeathers tho. She is wonderful. ( I loveses you too, Mandy 😉 I know of another but she isn’t doing repairs at this time.
BUT…….. repaints and rearranging original sculpts are frowned upon and best not asked about here on the forum.

Yea, we actually have already talked about it, but I wasn’t too confortable with altering one of Melody’s sculpts like that. It sounds like it would be beautiful though if someone were to actually tackle it. I’d love to see an idea like this implimented on the Female Griffin so we could have a Griffacampus one day, but that’s ALL Melody. Not me.

Besides, I’m not as much as a raw sculptor as just a reconstruction artist and painter basically. I don’t have much experience with sculpting a raw form… not that I don’t think I could give it a try, but it’s just not something I have any experience with personally. I’d probably need an anatomy class or somethign before I really got serious about that. I reccommended purplecat, but I just didn’t know if she had any time in her schedule for such a project. Also, there’s no gaurantee she would want to do it either. She could very well have the same concern as me as far as altering one of Melody’s sculptures. No idea.

LOL! and thanks for the vote of confidence Laurie ^_^ (sorry I’m just seeing this post now)

I’d be interested to see what it turns out like to BUT I would check with John about the LEGAL side of altering a production windstone editions piece that is copyrighted. Could run into legal issues with that. Just a suggestion.

I was going to actually. Getting there. I want to make sure melody would still get credit for her wonderful work.

(forgot about that before i left, whoops, thanks for the reminder)

edit: thanks for the reminder. I emailed him this morning

I think she’s fine so long as she doesn’t then cast the altered sculpture and sell it as her own sculpture. That’s the way I understand it, anyway – I could be wrong.

Thats what I thought. I honestly think it would fall under the same foggy areas as production repaints. When a repair is large enough that they cannot match the original paint, and it is repainted to essentially save the sculpt. I still wanna make sure mel gets credit for her work though. There i no base for it though so her sig is not on the sculpt any more. I’ll just wait for my answer.

Yup I am all set to go, I think I know how I gonna do this now. Would anyone by chance be to post a picture of the copyright on a grand unicorns base? I would really appreciate it if someone could.

I heard back from John and it’s pretty more what j moore said. The only issue is that the copyright is missing and it is illegal to purposefully remove or alter the copyright. Also that with reapplying it there could still be confusion as to it being an official windstone, but I got it figured out how i am gonna do it but I need to see the actual copyright first.

              Is this what you need?

              #923942

yes it was but john just emailed me again. he was still looking at stuff, and apparently you cannot just resculpt the copyright on. If I alter it in anyway other than recasting the body like drag0nfeathers did with the emp, than i am considered to have removed the copyright, which would be a $2,500 fine plus and resulting damages. -_- ugh. now i don’t know what to do. I do not think i can legally do this and I have no capabilities or supplies to remold this. off to email dragonstar….I hate dead ends.

But if this is just something that is a personal thing she is keeping for herself and not selling or anything I don’t understand why it couldn’t be changed or sculpted the way she wants rather than leave it broken?

Ya it is, but thats just the way copyrights work. And being the artist who has done the repair, I would be responsible, not her. If she was doing it for herself, that would have been her own choice, but that puts me in a very bad position, especially since I’d be getting paid for it. Thats a $2,500 fine just for not having the original copyright mark on it, plus damages, any revenues gained, fines for those, and legal fees and other hooha. I am just barely financially stable with $50 to my name at most any given time. Baaad idea to mess with legals.

I don’t understand how this is an issue. Didn’t John say it’s “illegal to purposefully remove or alter the copyright”? But you haven’t purposefully removed anything, it broke off. So how is it having broken off illegal?
