Today my best friend Betty calls me. The news is beyond bad. the news was about Vincent, her grandson and my adopted nephew, who for the last week has had fevers which reached 104 yesterday, so his Dad took him to the emergency yesterday. They sent him home, saying he would be fine. They lied…he died today about 3 hours ago. He was 6 years old.
It isn’t real for my son yet, who is his best friend. The funeral will be some day this week. On top of that is the cause. Meningitis, viral…both of my children were exposed, as we spent time together with the other children on Thursday, including Vince, who was under the weather, but no one thought it was worse than the flu.
So this isn’t over, Vincent’s sister, stepbrother, and my children are all at serious risk as well. So we are on watch and scared to death, losing Vincent is not something we ever expected.
Anyway, if you guys don’t hear anything from me for awhile now, don’t be surprised, I’m going to be dealing with some serious stuff for a bit. I’ll let you know if anything gets any worse, but please pray that this it the worst thing that happens at this point, the concept of losing any of the other kids is terrifying.
And Laurie, yes you can call if you are worried, but at the moment we don’t have a lot of info, we’re waiting on the Health Depts verdict on what we should do regarding protecting ourselves.

your family and his family, being exposed to meningitis would be scary. I hope
the worst is over for all of you.Boy oh boy, Kyrin, that’s awful! I’m scared to death for you and your kids! Will most definately keep you all in our prayers!

That is truly terrible, Kirin. Meningitis is a nasty, nasty thing. I’ll be praying for Vince’s family, your children, and everyone involved.
I am so sorry to hear that Kyrin my cares and prayers are with you and your family. I sincerely hope nobody else contact this.

This is the first I’ve heard of this as well. I’ll probably call Tuesday evening and let anyone know what I hear. 😥
