Boy, better late to comment than never . . . the markings on your two stripy unicorns are just wonderful, Koishii! I love the way they jag and swirl, and the very intriguing patterning. And I am absolutely drooling over the way the blue eyes leap out on the marbled tiger unicorn! There’s just something about the color combination that makes them look like they’re glowing . . . wow, it’s really neat. Fantastic work! 😀
May 18, 2009 at 5:58 am #699455I ditto Barrdwing’s compliment.
What’s neat about the unicorns is that with them, you get away from your rainbowish color schemes. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve loved every bright and colorful dragon you’ve done so far. But it’s neat to see what you can also do with fewer and more subdued colors.May 19, 2009 at 2:54 am #699456Absolutely gorgeous work! Wow!
May 19, 2009 at 10:24 pm #699457thanks Bardwing! great to hear from you!
GB you hit the nail on the head! It is one of the reasons i am enjoying painting these uni’s. They REALY limmit what i do with them because i do not see bright colors working with them as well like you can do with the dragons and griffins…so i am having fun making a non existing color pattern that still looks believable and natural with more natural tones.

And you do it so well! You paint an animal that does not exist and make it look real. Quite a feat.

Here is the third griffin! This is for 2hueberts(Laurie) who gave me a Jade scratcher in trade for it!(photos in the dragon photos stickied thread in the general windstone section) Which i ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!!! *pets*
So as photos go, the black of the wings came out…BLACK! he DOES have the green to blue to purple interference.
I tried a few things on this one. I am pretty happy with the orangey brown to tan coloring, he has a metallic sheen. along with doing interference on the markings…I added some interference purple to the back of the neck and haunch on the deep brown fur. It does not conflict with the markings because it is so light, but it has such a pretty look.
I also tried some different barring on the wings.
Over all, I am happy with this one. I do have 3 blank griffins left.
AND! the new uni I am working on. It has these light olive green eyes that kinda photo funny. Still has a lot of work.

June 15, 2009 at 1:46 am #699467Clouded Raon
This one has wiiiiierd eyes! the color looks really funny in the photos and i can not get it to look right… at least on my moniter it looks like a rather……pond scummy yellow green when in life it is more of a soft moss green/olive.
This one does not have a gem…i can not find them! and i need to sell him. he will be on ebay soon…tonight most likely.
I may attempt this one again, becuase i am really hooked on this idea, but it did not turn out the way i REALLY imagined it should. She is pretty though. her spots have blue interference and the black markings around the spots have green.
June 15, 2009 at 1:59 am #699468Ohh! I likey the soft grey colors…. so very pretty. 😀
