It’s funny: because of all the color changes due to lighting, on the first pic, I didn’t see any brown!
Different angle, different story. 😆
I love the front scales.

If I pick him up and he doesn’t fly away, can I keep him? 😉 8)
September 25, 2008 at 7:40 pm #699247He’s very beautiful. I love the way you work with color on all of your PYOs. I would love to get this one, but alas, no money 🙄 .

October 15, 2008 at 8:49 pm #699249Coral Kirin
This Kirin is a commission for Pheonix.
The scales on this kirin have manny colors, even though he looks mostly purple. He is very pretty. the main is a fiery red to orange with aqua blue tips, that got whited out by the camera some.the best photo:

October 16, 2008 at 5:07 am #699254Red blended into blue without turning muddy? Chapeau!
October 16, 2008 at 11:45 am #699255I really like how his muzzle and face colors are blended. Again, very nice 😉 .
October 16, 2008 at 2:48 pm #699256WOW! She’s AMAZING! How on Earth did you get the scales to look like that? They remind me of some sort of exotic rainbow fish 😯 The color contrast is really nice too

Pheonix wanted her Kirin to have scales that had a veriety of transitioning colors on each scale, so i did grens to blues, blues to purples, and orangy golds, pinkish, to purples. i did some color layering over all the scales, them each scale got individualy worked. I worked quickly though, keeping the paint loose and making sure the paint dried in a messy way instead of an exact transition to give a more natural look and make it have more veriety. I also did interference inbetween different layers of painting to help with the affect. last, i sprayed the fur with Satin finish, but did the scales with Gloss so that the colors would really show up. This has had a very nice affect and i am quite pleased with it. I am going to want to try doing this again later.
October 16, 2008 at 4:23 pm #699258A few of my KiRins have Matte fur and Shiny scales. It really does give it a great effect! Sounds like you’re the master with interference at this point Koishii! Great work as always!
