      He looks fabulous! It’s very natural…he doesn’t scream “I’m rainbow!” It’s more subtle…I love it. 😀

Awesome. XD That’s what I was going for! Glad you guys like him!

Oh, he’s a beauty! You have a talent for capturing rainbow! I hope you do another one!

          #670131

Oh he’s quite beautiful!!!!! If you don’t want to sell him, you can always give him to me… 8)

Oh, I saw him in your pic with the traveling kirin and I love him! I really like the gold added to the fur. It helps give his fur a golden warmth to it, like when the sun hits a dark furred animal, or dark brown head of hair and brings out those extra hints of color. I like how the rainbow left out purple. I think it gives a different feel that wouldn’t have worked as well with the purple in this instance (perhaps because it would be an extra cool color added to something that already feels warm.

Very nice! I love him as well as the sunny warm one you did before. Very nice! 😀

I’m going to have to get a commission or do a pyo trade with you when windstone is all settled, after I get some dragons from frozendragon.

The kirin is very pretty. I’m a sucker for color and you can’t get more colorful than a rainbow 😀 . You also did a great job on the face and mane areas 😉 .

Out of all the PYO’s I have ever seen, this is the only one that I want ssoooo bad! I know you said he’s not for sale. 🙁 You did such a beautiful job! Just stunning!

He’s VERY nice! I LIKES!! 😀 And I need to learn how to blend better…sigh

I’m home. =D (went to the lake this weekend) Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone. =)

I promise, after the PYOs come back to the store, I’ll make another one (or two)….e.e

Edit – I found a blank for sale on ebay! XD I hope I win. >.>; I also bid on the one available in the marketplace. Heehee. Impatience is my middle name. XD

That’s a beautiful rendition of a rainbow animal. Like Stephanie said, he actually looks natural.

                Thanks GB!

Also, I lost both of those ‘auctions’, since I wasn’t willing to pay more than $40 for a PYO Kirin blank. =x Oh wells, more Poad monies.

In other news, I have started experimenting with my airbrush. >.> The air compressor scares me. XD I have this idea that it will blow up, even though I take very good care of it. e.e *bonks herself* It will probably make some things a lot easier, though. Anyone else here use one? I’m pretty sure Kujacker does…and probably purplecat? What do you guys like better about using an airbrush? o.o Aside from how it takes a quarter of the time to lay down a basecoat! I love that part. >.> I need to get one of those little lazy susan things on a stand so I can spin them around as I go…we used them in my ceramics class at uni to spray on glazes. Very handy. Esp. since the paint seems to dry slower with the airbrush medium in it…

Edit : Dick Blick has them! They’re called Amaco No.5 Decorating Wheels. I think they’d be handy for anyone painting PYOs, not just airbrushers, though!

I love the fur on your kirin, but I’m not sure yet about the jewel on the forehead…

“What do you guys like better about using an airbrush?”
                    Well, I don’t! XD

I hate using my airbrush, to be honest o__o It’s just a pain to clean up afterward… I hate it. Not to mention while you’re airbrushing you have to clean it, otherwise the paint gets choppy. Blah. Not worth it for me. Sometimes I’ll randomly get an urge to do a pyo in mostly airbrush… though not often at all. Looking at my gallery, only three dragons are airbrushed… and they all ooolllld early dragons. All my ki-rins are hand done and same with my wolves. I actually started out using an airbrush on the pyos, but switched to all brush because it’s just easier…
I haven’t in awhile, but I do like using it for basecoats because, as you said, it takes just a minute XD

I think it just didn’t look right next to my red/gold one without. =) Plus, he’s an experiment~ If I ever make any more, I’d leave the choice of a jewel/no jewel up to the buyer. Here it is from a different angle –>

Either way, I can’t seem to photograph the rainbow-ness of the little stone. e.e; I need to fix my lightbox…
