That’s interesting. They seem to have the same base colors as horses. Love the Agouti the best!
I’ve seen one Calico horse… Fugly looking thing, really unusual.
I wonder if there are Brindle Llamas… Or Dun? That would be interesting!

OK, the only Calico horse I’ve seen… I know the pictures are small, but I’ve included the album links if anyone wants the full size:

OMG! You really weren’t joking! 😮 I wonder what the genetics are on that?

LOL. I know. He’s unique. The owners as far as I know haven’t had him tested, but the general concensus is that he’s a chimera.
Normally chimeras have a brindle pattern, but other then something really going wrong with an agouti gene, there’s no other explanation that has sounded reasonable.

Yeah, that’s what I thought right away “chimera.” He’s a stud, according to the notes on the pictures, so I’m assuming that they *hope* he’ll throw calico offspring. But if he’s a chimera, it’s not possible. Bummer. I don’t think he’s particularly beautiful, but I think he’s fascinating.

I know it. He won’t produce anything that hasn’t found its way to a dinner plate before. Sad really. But his color makes it ok… 🙄

Yes, that was the kind I was breeding for awhile.

That’s a really neat patterning for a horse! I agree he’s not particularly beautiful, but he sure is interesting.
