There’s many things I’m thankful for, but I’ll list a few.

~My best friend in the entire word: We met at summer camp when we were kids, and we’ve been totally inseparable ever since. She knows me like the back of her hand, and we’ve never fought even once. We have so much fun together, even now that we’re both at college and far from one another. Many people have said that we’ll probably grow apart since we don’t see each other much anymore, but everyday we show them, because we’re closer than ever.

~My Family: Some of the most wonderful people I know (and I know that everyone says this about their family, but it’s really true). My mother is the most giving, loving, selfless person I’ve ever known in my entire life. Having her around makes it hard to think of every getting married because I honestly believe it would be next to impossible to find a guy who could ever love me as much as she does. My little brother and I are super close too. I live in a dorm room at college during the week, but on the weekends I come home and we hang out. God forbid if I should ever need to stay at school though. He misses me so much and begs me to come home. It’s so good to be loved >.<

~My Grandparents: My grandmother isn't your typical cookie baking, story reading grandmother, but she's perfect in her own way. She's super organized, strong, and resilient. In recent years she's become my grandfather's caretaker, and she manages like a trooper, even though she could just as easily send him to a nursing home. She's very practical and organized and I love her. My grandfather is really someone special, though. He's celebrating his 92nd birthday on the 24th. Throughout his life he was a person with that unexplainable charisma that everyone was always drawn to, even though he was so shy he'd hide on the roof when company came over. As a grandfather he was perfect. He loved all of his grandchildren from the day we were born. He always played with us, sang with us, and even let us drive his golf cart. He was always goofing around, and it would annoy my grandma to no end, but he knew we loved it, so he did it anyway. As we got older he began to play another important role in my family, namely, moral supporter for my mom during her divorce from my abusive father. She mentions constantly how she probably wouldn't have been able to do it if it wasn't for the support of my grandpa and grandma, and I don't doubt it. I could spend the rest of my life thanking them both for all that they've done, but even then it wouldn't be nearly enough.

~Hamster: Another person in my life that I'm extremely for is my hamster, Luna. I got her from the pet store last year on the day I moved home from college. We went to the store in my home town, but they were all out of hamsters, so we drove all the way back to the pet store by my university and got her there. She was such a tiny little baby she could fit in the palm of my hand. Baby hamsters are notorious for biting, but Luna has never bitten me. She's such a calm little thing and I love her dearly. I'll pick her up out of her cage sometimes, just hold her, and she'll fall asleep on my chest as I pet her little ears. She's the best hamster I've ever had, and I am thankful that fate brought us together.

~Windstones: Hopefully this isn't taken as cheesy, but I really am thankful for my Windstones. I've loved fantasy creatures ever since I was little–especially unicorns. My problem always was that, no matter how many unicorn figurines I looked through, none of them looked like "real" unicorns to me. That is, until I stumbled upon Melody's work. All of her sculptures look like they could stand up and walk/fly away at any moment, and they look exactly like I dreamed they would. The rich colors and beautiful patterns make her incredible sculpting talent that much more wonderful. Every weekend when I go home I can barely concentrate on my homework because my eyes keep wandering over to my Windstones. So, thank you Melody, for all that you are and all that you do. I hope to be able to continue bringing home gypsum babies for a long time to come.

Nature: Last, but certainly not least on my list is nature itself. I never have a day where I don't see a bird flying, a squirrel running, or a tree blowing in the wind. It has started snowing again where I live, and even though I have gotten older, the magic hasn't. The white sparkly wonderland still gives me excitement beyond bounds, and makes me thankful for the Earth I have the privilege of living on. I love all of the animals so much, and all of the plants too. The ocean has always had a special place in my heart, with it's unfathomable depths filled with some of the most amazing organisms that God ever made. The forest is another of my great loves, and I've had the privilege of growing up practically inside it. I love you Mother Earth, but if you could tell Father Time to relax, we'd all appreciate it. There's a lot of people and things I'm not ready to give up yet. β™₯

Wow, this is a rough year to find things to be grateful for, but here goes!

I am grateful that despite everything that happened to my family this year, I was able to keep up with school and am nearing the finish line on my Master’s degree.

I am thankful beyond belief for my father’s brothers and sister-in-laws who came and stayed with my dad for weeks at a time so my mom and I could continue working and not have to put him in hospice care.

I am thankful for my employer and my managers who never made me feel like I had to decide between keeping my job or spending time with my family, and my co-workers who picked up my projects without complaint when my dad passed sooner than we expected and I had to leave work with no notice.

I am thankful that, for now, my mom has a place to live rent free as she adjusts to having one income.

I’m thankful for my children – they make me laugh everyday.

I’m thankful I’m healthy, but also that I have insurance in case I’m ever not healthy.

I’m thankful for my husband for being there for 10 years. Here’s hoping for 50 more. πŸ™‚

I’m thankful for Melody and the Windstone team. Meeting them and getting involved in helping with some things has been one of the very few really positive things to happen this year. I’ve been collecting for 2/3rds of my life – my first Windstone was a gift from my father. Meeting Melody was one of those things that I would NEVER have imagined happening in a million years – and finding out she’s one of the nicest people ever was awesome.

I guess maybe there was more good this year than I realized… πŸ™‚

I am thankful for my feet, even if they do hurt like the dickens and have me in tears or crawling some days. At least they are still atatched and get me where I need to go or be πŸ™‚

I’m thankful for everything I have, home, critters, family and health (kinda sorta). I’m still kicking even if everything else isn’t going so well. And mostly for my friends, you know who you are. Love you. πŸ˜‰
