It’s actually been a while since I got these, I just haven’t taken pictures, but had a fit of it yesterday. There were more, but they turned out badly because I forgot to turn on the macro until later…9_9; *slaps self*
I am pretty in love with the beaten metal look of the paint on the young oriental. I took a close-up so you-all could see it…since you can’t really in the store. I am not sure if this is just mine, or if they are all like that (hopefully they are), but I think it’s awesome :
I like it a lot better than I thought I would…more than the original version of this color, like what’s on my regular oriental. If they made more in this newer version of Copper Patina, I’d totally buy another. 😀 I am currently scheming on a mother dragon. Hopefully she has this beaten metal effect on her. e.e It is just spiffing, simply riffing~
Sugarplum Poads :
another Stained Glass Poad, front right (thanks to MG for this one! Sorry it took me so long to take a picture~) with some other colorful Poads. I finally finished paying Laurie off for the Bronze Butterfly too, so I am proud. *wipes brow* Most expensive piece I own, bar none. :
and a baby for my Bengal mum :
Kinda wished their eyes matched, but I didn’t like the brown-eyed sitter enough. I was more concerned with the stripes on the back and the coloring of the wings, so…6.6;…oh wells. Daddy must have had orange eyes…

February 22, 2010 at 6:45 am #754887Lovely new pieces, Kitsune. About the chick’s bright eyes: Maybe when they’re born they have orange eyes and the color changes as they grow older…
@Purpleturtle: The Spectral looks dashing in black gold. Very pretty.February 22, 2010 at 11:03 pm #754888Danke. =) Yeah, I thought of that too. 😀 @ GB Doesn’t that happen in real life? >.>
February 23, 2010 at 6:20 am #754889I’m pretty sure it does, I just can’t remember with what kinds of critters. It happens in humans…
February 23, 2010 at 1:33 pm #754890There are species of hawks that are born with eyes which are brightly colored, then they darken as they age. The opposite is also true. It can be one way for a falconer to estimate the age of a raptor.
Windstone collector in remission. 😉
February 23, 2010 at 4:06 pm #754891Obviously those are goshawk/Bengal gryphons – the chicks hatch with yellow eyes that darken to red by maturity. 😉

Most (all?) mammals start out with dark blue-grey eyes as infants. Also, corvids (ravens, crows, etc) start with blue eyes! (Just found that out about corvids and saw pictures recently.)
February 24, 2010 at 6:58 am #754893Really? Thanks for the info, Kyrraven – that’s interesting to know! A raven with blue eyes… Now that’s just cool.
February 24, 2010 at 1:47 pm #754894Wow… I just won the tuxedo gargoyle for $95. I guess he wasn’t that popular. All the better for me. I thought he was funny. 🙂
February 24, 2010 at 3:56 pm #754895I was going to bid, but the kids chose that time to distract me and I missed the end of the auction! 😥
