Can you try to claim the insurance? As for the seller, you should def point out the damage the saran wrap caused, if it caused any lasting paint problems. That is totally on her.
I know, and I did. The ball is in court as far as I’m concerned. I just have to much other stuff going on right now, and honestly I don’t want to deal with this right now. I did explain that the damage in great detail caused by the wrap – so hopefully she’ll be decent about it and refund me a little. But if she doesn’t, oh well – she’s a crummy seller that I will never buy from again. I’ll see what her response is. Anyways, I’m not going lose any sleep over it.
As for the insurance, I never had to make a claim before 😳 . I hate to show my ignorance, but does she have file the claim or can I do it?February 11, 2010 at 6:03 am #805824Does she sell a lot on E-Bay, Purpleturtle? (As a warning for others, you know.)

Apparently. The dragon came from Nevada to. I’m sure what happened the package got really hot and melted the wrap onto the the dragon. I still can’t figure th logic in why she used it in the first place  .
She had a few other auctions for Windstones at the same time as this guy. I don’t think these are things she is used to selling. I don’t want to mention any names, though. I just hope her other buyers faired better than me.February 11, 2010 at 2:29 pm #805826It’s so sad when this happens. Saran wrap??? People are so stupid sometimes 🙄 With the finish on them the wrap will obviously damage it. 🙄

You will need her to send you all receipts for shipping and insurance to try and make a claim. Also a warning, if it is determined that the damage is due to improper packing, (or if it is not clear that they trashed the package which equals damaged item) they will not pay out on a claim. They will also need all the shipping materials, and sadly they will most likely keep the dragon as well. Good luck. 🙁

That’s what I’m afraid of 🙁 . Besides, I put almost 5 hours so far into restoring him already. I don’t want to go through the hassle of re-packing him and sending it back and blah – blah – blah …..
I’m willing to cut my losses (this time) and keep things how they are. I got deal with the price. I probably would have paid that much for a damaged Emperor, and as it turns out , I did. He still looks very magnificent, he’s sitting on my coffee table right now, and he’ll look even better when I’m done fixing him 😉 . I’m okay with the way things turned out. I’ll post picks of my handy work later….February 11, 2010 at 4:57 pm #805829Did you give instructions on how to pack it? If so, maybe the seller confused saran wrap with bubble wrap? Was bubble wrap used at all?
February 11, 2010 at 5:25 pm #805830ouch,I know that feeling all too well too.Sorry hun.Good luck on restoring him.He will be worth more to you after you give him all the TLC he is going to need 🙂

As for the insurance, I never had to make a claim before 😳 . I hate to show my ignorance, but does she have file the claim or can I do it?I believe she will have to send you that little slip of paper, and then you can make the claim, something will be mailed to her, and then the PO pays. It is a process and takes a while. If she refuses to refund a little for the saran wrap, you can always leave bad feedback… just remember you can only leave FB within 30 days or so of the sale.

Thanks, Ski. Yeah, that’s what i kinda figured. I just don’t want the headache.
No worries on the feedback, though. I definitely intend to leave feedback….February 11, 2010 at 8:15 pm #805833Lokie wrote:Did you give instructions on how to pack it? If so, maybe the seller confused saran wrap with bubble wrap? Was bubble wrap used at all?
I did give instructions. She unfortunately sent out the package before I could find the tutorial though. There was very little bubble wrap and it had news paper loosely packed around him as well. He wasn’t actually bouncing inside his box, but he definitely had wiggle room. She did inform me she ‘shrunk wrapped’ it. I assumed it was an actual packing wrap, and not freaking saran-wrap that you wrap up your leftovers in 😆 .

Indeed! That’s pretty much how I feel about it to 😀 .
February 12, 2010 at 2:39 am #805835Hopefully you can get the Saran wrap (????? what were they thinking that doesn’t cushion!) off his smooth scales well enough; he looks pretty other than that and with your skills I bet you can repair the horn admirably.
(is worried though- I’d managed to save a little and bought an inner light candlelamp cheap from someone in Nevada; it’s not here yet but they did say shipping via USPS)February 12, 2010 at 2:43 am #805836Would this help?
http://pages.ebay.com/coverage/index.htmlPersonally, I feel you are entitled to a full refund. Think of it this way, if you put that dragon up on eBay in the condition its in right now (chips, paint peeled off, bits of seran wrap everywhere) I can guarantee you it wouldnt still go for 160 or over 100.
Both eBay and paypal offer buyer protection, try to use those before you go to USPS. You shouldn’t have to be the one paying for these mistakes.

True.
My problem is the damage that has incurred because of the saran-wrap is actually very hard to photograph now. I spent about five hours removing it, and did a damn good job of if I do say so myself 😉 . Aside from the horn, I’m worried the damage caused by the wrap is so tiny that I won’t have a leg to stand on. The buyer wants to see the damage caused by the wrap – she does seem to want to work with me. I’m going to try to get some photos of what is left for damage tomorrow, when the light is good. If she is willing to give me a partial refund, I’ll be cool with that. But If she decides not to after seeing the pics, then I may make a claim with E-bay. Thanks for reminding me of that, Pam 😀 . -
