Thanks, Nirvanacat! I knew we could count on you!

Did you purchase travellers insurance for the trip? That can sometimes help recover the costs.

The problem is…. I know these people. I got married on this same cruise *to a different place* two years ago. It would be like calling Melody and bitching her out for scamming you. She and the whole small crew are like friends. I have met all of them and whatnot, I would feel like an jerk to call and get so upset.

If they were really your friends they wouldn’t be doing this to you. It can be done in a nice, but firm way. You need to let them know that their decisions have put you in this position, otherwise you wouldn’t be contacting them.

Awww, what a bummer! I’ve only been on one cruise, and we also had to change ports…luckily due to weather and not prejudiced creeps…but we also missed out on the excursions we really wanted to do because of that port change. Heck, we almost didn’t get on the boat at all because a hurricane destroyed the airport we were supposed to fly into! We missed a whole day of the cruise, had to spend a night in the airport, lost our luggage and got all sorts of rerouted, and we didn’t get compensation either.
But it was still a nice cruise!
Whatever happens, just don’t go into it mad or disappointed. You will still have a great time no matter what as long as you want to! Sorry it hasn’t worked out the way you’d hoped, though, and I do hope you get something for your trouble…
