I had actually heard that Melody had retired! Not the out of business rumor (for Canada) but that Melody had retired and there were no more being made by that company.
I am, of course, assuming that this is not actually true, I thought initially that it was and I was devastated…
Cheerio!

Mel can take a semi-long vacation, but we won’t let her retire. 😉 😆
June 22, 2008 at 6:58 pm #578009If there are multiple stores already in a city, like in Edmonton (there are two, but they are both on the south/west end of town) and if I get a north end dealer interested, would it be rejected from proximity?
The two are in Mill Woods and West Edmonton Mall (really far from where I live) and I would be happy if I could get the collectible place in Londonderry to sell them, Londonderry is in the north end of the city, over 1/2 drive from either of the other dealers. And they sell lots of other collectible stuff so they might be interested.
Going to go stalk them with my young and my fledgie!
April 25, 2009 at 4:24 pm #578010Just found out that Armadillo Wax Works in Prescott is gone/moved/out of buisness. I’m going to see about getting our local crystal shop to carry Windstones. I’m just worried that if I push them into ordering more stuff when the economy is being really hard on small buisness, I might get baned from the shop Dx
I don’t have a fledgeling or a young, My Husband has the ruby mom, dad, and hatchy. His mom has a oriental(superglued back together), a broken flapcat, and Grimalkin. His dad has a white OW and peacock OW. I have Crocus, and now a pyo (blank)small dragon.
What could I bring with to show them??? (I plan to printout the pictures in the catalog and give them a hardcopy)

April 25, 2009 at 4:38 pm #578011Even though the Ruby color is retired you can still take those pieces (mother, male and hatchling) in so that the store can get a “feel” for the pieces. Then when you show them the pictures they can see how different colors look on different sculpts. if I remember right those (mother, male and hatchling) are three of the best selling dragon pieces (they’ve also been around the longest).
April 25, 2009 at 5:41 pm #578012thanks ^^ now to try and catch the store owner xD and talk my Hubby into bringing them to show them off xD

I had checked the dealer page and noticed that there were a few dealers in Baton Rouge, so I decided to reward myself with a Windstone today. Apparently, that was not meant to be… 🙁
I plotted out my course and hit Caffery Gallery first. I went in and asked to see their Windstones. I got the blank stare and the “Um…” response. I tried to explain, but thought it would just be easier for me to look around. I seriously searched the store from top to bottom and finally found ONE! They had the mushroom ring candlelamp. If I’m not mistaken, that piece is retired? I wonder how long it has been since they had any Windstones?? Technically, they are a gallery, and their store section has a lot of jewlery and local folk stuff. So I guess they only take special orders or maybe restock when their other stuff gets low… The sales person did say she would check on it.
Drove to the Ra Shop by LSU. Hmmm… must be 18 to enter… The Ra Shop is a tobacco store and has lots of… uh, interesting… stuff. LOL! They did have dragons, but they were those resin cheapy-looking dragons and other stuff. No beautiful Windstone dragons. The sales person here DID know Windstones, but they aren’t ordering anything until they renovate. *sigh* Moving on…
New Thought Bookstore at the Unity Church… Let’s see… open 10:00-3:00, M-Th and 10:00-Noon on Sunday… Saturday… Saturday? WHAT STORE IS CLOSED ON SATURDAY!?! *sigh* And on the website, you don’t see dragons, just Maya’s beautiful figures.
At this point, I decided I’m not even going to try The Lake. I’m so not going to the hospital to see if they have dragons. Most likely, they sell Maya’ statues, and not dragons. Although, if I were in the hospital, I would want a dragon! 😀
Now I’m depressed, so I head to my favorite little store for a pick me up – Coyote Moon Crystals & Gifts. A wonderful, wonderful tiny store that sells healing books, music, crystals, jewelry, incense, etc. I bought me a nice little slab of fan-shaped black kyanite (now I feel better). I stayed and talked for a while and, I found out they were going to expand into the vacant adjacent retail space.
tick… tick… tick… bing! *light bulb goes off* “Chris, have you ever thought of selling Windstones?” He looked up the website and liked it… so I’m off to e-mail Susie! Woot! Woot! I’m imagining a place that sells both crystals and Windstones… *drools*

Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.April 25, 2009 at 10:55 pm #578015It’s always a good idea to call the shops on the list to be sure they are still dealers before going to them. Save some gas money that can then go to a Windstone. 😉 I know one store listed in Penscola, FL, told me they won’t be carrying Windstones anymore once they sold out of their last ones. Last time I was there I believe that last Small Peacock Wizard was gone.
They said they had a problem getting people to buy in the store once Windstone opened their online store. They said people would come in, look around and then head home to order. Only reason I could maybe think why would be if their prices were way too high. I can’t remember if their prices were high since it’s been nearly 10 years since I bought from them and the online store didn’t exsist then to compare prices.
Personally I’d rather buy a piece in a store whenever possible (over having it shipped). That way I get to pick the one I like and I don’t have to worry about it while in transit. Plus it’s hard to tell how something looks from a picture on the Internet. I’m glad I have another store near me that carries Windstones (even if the stock is a little thin right now due to the factory move). It gives me a chance to see things for myself.

EXACTLY!
Some friends and I are headed to the International Music Festival in Lafayette tomorrow, and we are stopping at the Leather Pouch first. They had plenty of Windstones a couple of months ago – dragons, gargolyes, etc. I WILL get a new Windstone before this weekend is through! 🙄
I had a really rough week… LOL!
Edit: I checked the web… The Leather Pouch is closed on Sunday… Noooooo! :shout:
December 12, 2009 at 2:16 pm #578017Do art galleries count? I know a couple of folks that have them and I would ask them. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comDecember 14, 2009 at 9:50 pm #578019We had an art gallery here in Baton Rouge that sold them at one point.
EDIT: I just checked, and Caffery Gallery is still listed on the dealer’s page… I had stopped by there once to check on their selection (see a few posts up).
April 11, 2010 at 4:57 pm #578020I took a couple of my own pieces in, since I didn’t have a catalog — they made quite an impression! So that might be a great way to introduce the topic (and, who knows, maybe even get someone else into collecting!) and convince them of how awesome Windstones are. (Plus, there’s no proof quite as convincing as ten pounds of dragon, regarding your willingness to start spending money in that person’s store!)

I have a couple of stores in my area that I would like to sell Windtones but I’m not sure how to go about it, if anyone knows please let me know, if would be so much easier for me to be able to buy them here in Canada, than to order them from the states, I’m always worried that they will not arrive in one piece.Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
