There aren’t any stores I even know of in my area that even look like Windstones would fit in with their other merchandise 🙁 There was an Enigma’s Game and Card shop that I tried to sell on Windstones. He seemed interested “Hey, honey, look, these are those same dragons we saw at that one place…yea these are really nice!”
I suggest bringing in a small Windstone with you so that folks can touch them and see up close and personal all the detail and work and love that go into the sculpts. I brought my peacock male, but fledglings and young dragons are easier to tote around, and appeal to both kinds of dragon folks…those who like the cute fat ones and those who like the cool mean ones 😀 so bring like a black gold young (if you have one)and a cheery little fledgie 🙂
June 4, 2007 at 2:00 am #577992yeah i got a store to sell windstones when i brought my peacock OW in to them..their jaws hit the ground rofl, a week later they had an account with windstone and i got my BG emp 🙂 oh and last time i checked..the store was on their third order 8)
June 5, 2007 at 2:43 am #577993very kewl!! I’m heading back to the Russian River next weekend I talked to a store owner last year but maybe I should bring something this time to show him what they look like in person
June 5, 2007 at 5:28 pm #577994Trying to get this local store “Diann’s Gift’s and Collectables” to start selling Windstone.. called them and told them I was in their store this past weeekend and must have walked right by their Windstone display, of course there was no display, and asked if there was someone I could talk to about adding Windstone Editions to their inventory.. she said it was unlikly. She asked if I sold Windstone.. I said no I was a collector and that I would love to bring in some pieces from my collection to show.. but she did not sound excited.. 🙁 I think her thought was that I was a telemarketer..
I would have done this in person but I was afraid of the impression I would make as I look like a teenager, not the near thirty I am. ARG!!! Don’t they understand how wonderful Melody’s sculptures are!!!! ????
June 21, 2007 at 1:04 am #577995I went into a local book store that also had other dragon, fairy, pagan, etc themed gift item around the store. I asked them if they ever heard of Windstone. The lady behind the desk said “Yes, they’re great. We put an inquiry in, but they didn’t seem interested in doing business with us. I think they want more artsy places”. Is that true? Does Windstone have a preferance who sells their sculpts?
If not, any of the Windstone Staff hear from Ann’s Books in Atascadero, California?

That doesn’t seem right- but I’m not sure. Can you email this info to Susie (susie@windstoneeditions.com)? She’d be able to check for you! 🙂

July 10, 2007 at 10:55 pm #577999OMG Dracomancer, you got an emp for stalking a store??? This may be the answer to my neverending windstone obsession and corresponding neverending lack of funds….
Hmm…. I think I’m going to need to start examining the current situation in the state of kansas, existing windstone dealers and noticable gaps in sales coverage…
(goes off to plot)

The only reason we wouldn’t sell to a book store is if they are too close to another dealer. If they have bad credit we would still sell to them on a prepay or COD basis. We really like to support book stores so I’m not sure what may have transpired. Send the store name and we will look into it.December 30, 2007 at 10:57 pm #578002The last time I checked all the store listings for Amarillo Texas don’t carry any more. And I doubt that any store here would carry. Most of the places that did are either gone or just quit. 🙁
When I called The COLONY FRAME & GALLERY AMARILLO TX they said that they don’t carry until the Holidays and then it is a few… they have a catalog to look through and thats it. Weird.
The 3 other places either don’t carry any more or closed.
January 14, 2008 at 11:31 pm #578003How far is too close to an existing dealer? SOmeone I spoke to once told me that they’d been told by Windstone that they were too close to existing dealer(s), but I don’t see any on the dealer’s page or know of any closer than 20 miles + to that dealer. That can’t be right.

Sorry I’m late to respond! Perhaps at one time there was another dealer too close- but as hundreds of stores close times have changed. See if they still want to carry Windstones- there is a high likelihood that Windstone would let them!

Only other thing I can think of (they only said that they were too close to another dealer) is that they’re located in the ‘flea market’ section of a flea/antiques mart- it’s a permanent structure and they have 4 walls, though, it’s not a booth. They’ve been there for years and carry some other highish-end collectibles.
Can weekend-mart vendors carry Windstones still? Most of my pieces were purchased from a fleamarket vendor, but that was years ago and that place is long gone. If not, the whole town is an artsy/antiques shoppers mecca, I’ll try some of the shops in town maybe. -
