Sunday I went down to the Twin Cities (about 80 mile drive) to have lunch and shop with a friend of mine at the Mall of America. When I got home, my hubby told me that Claire Marie (kitty, see siggie pic) had been howling in the litter box and was not eating and lethargic. He was worried her time had come (she’s 11). I checked on her, and she was very sick. She just looked sick. Her belly hurt to touch it, but she didn’t have a fever. I spent all evening Sunday checking on her and being really worried. I even cried a little. She’s always been so playful… I never thought she’d be the first to go. I didn’t sleep well, and got up once during the night to bring her to the litter box and to get a drink of water. Sometime during the night she cuddled up to me, and then went to look out the window (she’d been hibernating before that). In the morning she looked better, and now she’s fine. Her rear end looks really sore, so she must have had something that was difficult to get out that was blocking her up. I was so scared! She’s my baby. I don’t want to lose her yet.

February 5, 2008 at 9:54 pm #662076Emerald, I know it costs money but in this instance, Id still take her to the vet for a check up with regard to this event. Cats mask symptoms VERY well, unlike dogs. Trust me, Im going through something with one of my moms cats right now. You dont know if she ruptured something inside and is bleeding internally.
I practice, safe than sorry when it comes to my animals to the extent Id sell a prized Windstone if I had to (luckily it’s never come to that and I dont think my family would let it). I dont mean to be flip with your money, but as a fellow animal lover, especially of cats with whom I run the gamut, Id take her to the vet for a check up even if she seems well.
AND, I dont mean to alarm you with what Ive said above. Im just being prudent. Update us please. Candle is lit for clearing healing energy for Claire Marie.
ps: I only see a jade coiled male in your siggie.

February 5, 2008 at 11:02 pm #662079This kitty:
Yes. She seems all better now. She is playful and affectionate. She is eating and drinking normally and seems to be able to use the litter box okay. She must have just eaten something hard to pass, but she has done it, I think, and is getting better. I’m keeping an eye on her, and if she starts looking bad again I will bring her to the vet. But I think the illness has passed.

February 5, 2008 at 11:30 pm #662082Good, glad I have a larger pic of her to put next to candles.
I only say what I did because when it comes to cats eliminating functions, if you dont act within 36 hrs., they are fatal. Lots of times it is less time you have to act because they dont display symptoms till a day in or so. Thats why I wanted you to act quickly. However, you know your cat best, so do what settles your heart 😀
February 6, 2008 at 12:37 am #662083I’m glad your kitty is feeling better
