How high is not high? Because I don’t think I was around then…

I think I bid $70 and I was barely outbid. My memory could be faulty though. I just dont remember it going that high.
May 29, 2007 at 7:14 pm #581992I remember it going for more than I had, but then it was during one of my frequent broke periods, so that’s not saying much.

The white owl? If so then that was one that Vantid bought off of eBay, and then later resold. It didn’t come from the Factory’s ‘extras’. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comMay 29, 2007 at 7:56 pm #581994No, there were repainted owls, weren’t there? I could swear they’d released some special owl or other, that they’d found in the factory and painted differently than the regular owl.
May 29, 2007 at 8:01 pm #581995Hmm! Could have been… darned if I can remember. I think that Melody retouched Vantid’s owl for her.. I can’t remember if there were other owls or not. Been painting black feather banding for too many hours… *doh!* 😆
Hopefully this project (the photo encyclopedia thing) that Snap, GB, Melody and I are working on will help clear up things like this.
EDIT: Just talked to Vantid and she says that they didn’t list owls on eBay, so maybe you were thinking of the one she had? They sold retouched bobcats though. Frozen said that he got one of the old owls too, but his is one of the brown ones, and sold from an individual on eBay. Vantid’s was a rare white one that Melody painted only a few for a Labyrinth promo back in the 80s.

My art: featherdust.comMay 29, 2007 at 8:28 pm #581996Wow! so the Triceratops and Stegosaur are original Molds too. I’d love to get my mitts on one of those or the Original Mamma and Hatcher. Oh and I want an Owl or a Bobcat too 😕
May 30, 2007 at 12:25 am #581997Yes, the one I’m talking about is #102. Here’s the photo I found of it. I guess it came in several colors. I wonder if he came with the feather? I’d love to find one, but I know chances are slim. I’ve already waded thru a bunch of cat stuff on ebay. 🙄
May 30, 2007 at 12:41 am #581998I agree with Thornwolf(?) on LJ- I really like the looks of the paint job on the mama and hatcher. The image is faded, but it still doesn’t look quite like regular old green to me (esp. on mama; baby looks green but dark). I also prefer more matte, ‘natural’ looking colors on them.
Really like the wolf one too! And the bobcat.May 30, 2007 at 11:57 am #581999Oh gosh those cats are so sweet!!!!

May 31, 2007 at 1:20 am #582001Maybe when Melody and Windstone move to Oregon she’ll clean out the CA warehouse and put a lot of oldies sh discovers in the forum or Ebay. Boy oh Boy
May 31, 2007 at 10:18 am #582002The feather is *SO* PRECTIOUS!!! But those are so random (not unique like the current Windstone pieces) that I doubt even current owners will know they have anything worth selling and might dump them in garage sales and the such. 😕
May 31, 2007 at 6:01 pm #582003Which might mean it’ll be a little easier (Cheaper?) for us if we do find one!! 😀
Everyone start your engines and head to those Garage/yard and “antique” sales!!!
