Wow~ Very nice. I like it the way it is.
November 17, 2006 at 5:40 pm #509040Very nice. Can’t wait to see the final picture. I definately think it needs something over the white on the wings and toes (but that is my opinion).
Oh and the second and third link is the same pic (just a heads up).November 17, 2006 at 5:47 pm #509041Thanks for the heads up… and compliments. π
Link is fixed!
Yeah… her wings aren’t done yet… so they’ll have banding and patterns soon. π
November 17, 2006 at 6:06 pm #509042Your welcome.
Do you have a pic of the belly or is it about the same as the rest of the griffin?November 17, 2006 at 6:14 pm #509043it’s pretty much the same color right now… same as the sides of the gryphon below the wings…
It’s hard to photograph… but the wings leading down the shoulders to the forearms is a darker brown/black… whereas the belly and sides are still a reddish brown color. I might darken it… not sure yet… I just know I’m liking the way the head/neck chest area is looking. π
So you think I should leave the offwhite color on the tips of the toes? Do you think I should bring that color onto the lion half of the belly?
November 17, 2006 at 11:02 pm #509044I think I would put a little more cream area on the toes and blend it. Otherwise, Stunning! Absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to try my hand with some pastels…And since I’m getting a job at AaronBrothers I’m all set! π
November 17, 2006 at 11:03 pm #509045I also kind of like the idea of adding a little cream to the lion belly, but only a very little, like a little loin patch or something! =P
November 17, 2006 at 11:11 pm #509046Stupid question time! I am new to all this and I keep reading about people using “Pastels”. Are they a type of paint? The only pastels I know are small chalk-like sticks. Any info would be appreciated.

They are the chalk. She crushes it up and uses it. I think they talk about it above.
November 19, 2006 at 7:54 am #509048Thanks Ski! I just found her post explaining it. Must have missed it before. π
November 20, 2006 at 4:20 am #509049WOW, he’s coming along nicely! The blending looks very smooth, I applaud you ^_^ Man, I wish I had a bunch of PYOs to experiment with. They’re so much fun, non?
November 22, 2006 at 6:57 am #509050More pics!!! π
GADS they are hard to photograph at nearly midnight. π I WILL take better pics eventually. π

I added the ivory color to her belly.. and blended it all in with pastels… I think only minor details remain… and maybe another layer of pastels on the banded part of the wings. π
And then here are the first pics of my PYO Ki-Rin! Eventually I’ll go over her scales with pearl… and that interference redish color.. just a wash of it… to accentuate the scales. Then I’ll pick out a scale here or there and paint it solidly in that interference color. π She’s gonna look so cool!!

Both should be heading to ebay soon!!! π I hope! I can’t wait to keep a few… but I’ve told my family these are waht I want for Xmas… so the ones I buy… can’t stay… ~LOL~
November 22, 2006 at 7:08 am #509051I love the feathers on your griffin and your Kirin is coming along very nicely. The white on the griffins belly looks a little small to me… like a crotch kinda. Maybe its just me. Very nice, though.

The lion part is wearing a loin cloth =P Silly Ski!
November 22, 2006 at 8:17 am #509053I really like both of them, the ki-rin definately needs some dark(er) on the scales, but I’m sure you’re working on that and he/she will come out beautifully!
