Melanie Rawn’s “Dragon Prince” and “Dragon Star” Series
Duh! I forgot about those. I loved them.
Margaret Weis also has a newer trilogy… Mistress of the Dragons is the first.
Thanks for rooting for me!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

October 29, 2007 at 5:23 pm #629847Some of my favorite books! Especially The Last Dragonlord – I’m really bummed that it looks like she’s not writing anymore. π₯
Also like Patricia Wrede’s The Enchanted Forest Chronicles: Dealing with Dragons, Searching for Dragons, Calling on Dragons and Talking to Dragons. I liked the first couple of books the best.

What’s up with that? I had to buy Dragon & Phoenix used…. her stuff was so original!
October 30, 2007 at 4:40 pm #629849I’ll second Foxfeather, these are my favorite dragon books to date. Plus the author is a really nice guy:
E.E. Knight’s “Age of Fire” Series. Starts with “Dragon Champion” and the Second Book is “Dragon Avenger”
The third Age of Fire book is due out in December! It’s about the copper Link . And he’s been given the go ahead from his publisher to write the final three books in the series! WOOT!!!Others that I enjoyed:
I agree with nightcrow- I also liked “Song in the Silence” by Elizabeth Kerner, but the ending made me really mad! π
“Dragon’s Domain” by Thorarinn Gunnarsson is another I enjoyed- a short read but a pretty good one.
I never could get into any of the Pern books. Yuck. I tried reading them and gave them a shot with an open mind, but they aren’t my flavor.
There are some other good books with dragons in them, but I am partial to the books that are about the dragons. Melanie Rawn’s books are a good example. There are dragons in them and they are good books, but they are mostly about the Sunrunners and not the dragons.

The guy inherits the local wizard’s familiar, a tiny dragon who communicated telepathically, and both of them end up solving crimes.
I’m so happy i managed to pick up the entire series of the dragons of Pern (Hardcover) for 25 cents at a used book store. It was a little yellowed but readable.
I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~
Engaged to a WeaselOctober 30, 2007 at 11:47 pm #629851That’s quite the deal!!! π

I just finished reading Dragon Avenger, I haven’t gotten the other book about the copper yet, but I’m going to! I loved that it was actually all about the dragon.
November 12, 2007 at 7:53 pm #629853I loved Eragon and Eldest by Eric Paolini but did not care for the Eragon movie. Cant wait for the third book to come out! π

Unfortunately I believe the wait is until September 2008!
November 12, 2007 at 9:32 pm #629855Oh well, I’m still really looking foreward to it!
November 28, 2007 at 2:36 am #629856If anyone is looking for something that is geared toward younger children, you might try “Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher” by Bruce Coville. About a sixth grade boy who raises a dragon when the egg chooses him! I enjoyed it (so does that mean I’m really immature or just young at heart? π― )

Thanks for the E.E. Knight recommendation, Nam! I just finished reading Dragon Champion and quite enjoyed it. π
March 20, 2008 at 2:24 am #629858I really enjoyed R.A. McAvoy’s Tea with the Black Dragon: although it’s not your typical dragon book, there is a real dragon in it and the story was really sweet. For the younger reader, Laurence Yep’s Dragon of the Lost Sea was a great read. And Andre Norton’s Dragon Magic is great too (yeah, I do tend to always put in a plug for Norton π ). Barbara Hambly wrote a four-book series (The Dragonsbane series); I loved the first, was ambivalent about the second, and haven’t read the other two. And Terry Pratchett, of all people, has some fun notions about dragons; read Guards! Guards! for his dragon story. π
Other than that, McCaffrey’s dragons will always be major favorites of mine. I enjoyed E.E. Knight’s three books very much, and although I liked Melanie Rawn’s dragons I really wished she’d done more with them rather than the humans. Naomi Novik’s dragon books have all been superb this far.
There may be other dragon books lurking in the stacks around here; if I turn up another one I really liked, I’ll post about it here! π

Hmm… I dunno, but I’ll tell ya that I’m both (immature & Y@H). I love that book. Though I did read it when I was like… 10. But 17 years later, I still have my bright rainbow-colored copy! π
I wish I had a suggestion for y’all… my brain just dies when it’s given such a task. But at least I’ll have lots of books to try out now. Thanks!
