Mine is all finished with painting and sealing, but the pad is not yet attached. When I went to attach it, I had been sent the pad for a different sculpture! Susie mailed a new one out to me yesterday, so mine will be in the mail the day after the pad arrives.

What a neat swap idea! Is painting these cuties difficult?

Like any form of art, it’s different per person. There are just so many factors that go into painting them, it’s impossible to say if it’s “easy” or “hard” to paint them.
December 6, 2017 at 12:24 pm #1532739Mine’s done!
December 7, 2017 at 12:59 am #1532752Mine is nearly done! Life has been crazy lately and this snuck up on me. I may be a day or 2 late in getting him out, but I want to make sure he’s totally up to snuff before sending him out! I’m digging how he looks so far 😀

Still, some materials require a great deal of prep work prior to painting. That’s mostly what I was referring to. Do PYOs come ready to paint, or do they need a lot of sanding/priming/scrubbing/filling/etcetc.

Windstone PYOs are totally prep free, I’ve never seen one that needed any kind of prepping! All you need is some acrylic paint, or a airbrush, or even pastels, and you’re ready to go. But not oil paint, something about the gypsum needing to breath makes oil paint a no-no.

Ah, yes. You just need a base layer of paint on these. The first layer tends to get sucked up by the gypsum.
I actually paint with pastels, and just add accents and such with acrylic paint. This pyo for the swap received a base coat of white in acrylic paint before I went in with pastels.December 7, 2017 at 3:39 pm #1532789My pyo will be going out Monday, sorry I will be a few days late and it will be shipped priority.

Dumb question, but I don’t really get the cookie thing – are we supposed to include actual cookies (or a treat of some sort?)?
