Just to clarify – I am not saying the swap organizer did anything underhanded, but the swap seemed really disorganized from the beginning, and I think in the future it would really behoove whoever puts them together and runs them to be much clearer about the process and to have better communication.
I would have put this in my other post, but we can’t edit them anymore for some reason.
Commission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.

December 25, 2017 at 9:49 am #1533567I’d be happy to have a go at hosting next year, if the hosts this year are too overwhelmed, or would like some help! 🙂
Can’t wait to see more pictures of lovelies! <3
December 25, 2017 at 12:13 pm #1533571I count 11 pyo’s in the thread and I believe there were 19 painters so quite a few more to be shown.
December 25, 2017 at 1:33 pm #1533572@Hannah Thank you for saying what I was afraid to.
And as much as I love these swaps, I also agree with you in skipping.
@rylorien The blending on that wolf is fantastic!
@Mika I like the design and the crisp lines on the unicorn! It really pops.In the past Dragonmedley (the normal swap organizer for those new) use to make a post of who painted for who and who received/posted pictures. Made it easy to figure out what was missing.
December 26, 2017 at 8:55 am #1533577@ela_hara Thanks!
@hannah I think I went cross-eyed trying to keep that maple leaf so clean and sharp. I’m glad it shows! Also, I’m in love with the alexandrite dragon you painted!
@kujacker That wolf wound up going through a few permutations before I fully settled on a finite concept and was happy with the end results. Thanks for the comment! 🙂@siberahk So glad you like it! ^_^
@Mika You did a fabulous job on that unicorn. Reminds me of a superhero!I already know I’m going to be receiving mine later, probably next week sometime.
As for the rest of the talk… try to have a little patience and faith people. Mail is going to be slow from xmas and injuries. Also, please remember 96307 was the first and only person to come forward when the normal swap organizer failed to do so as per usual. So yes, it was a bit disorganized…spontaneous, if you will.
I don’t know if she’d be happy with me saying this much but she’s had a lot of problems the past few months too. Aside from a car accident that totalled her car and was not her fault (the other driver wasn’t insured and hers wouldn’t cover the damages/replacement), her health insurance isn’t covering her anti-seizure meds anymore. So…she had a lot to worry about, and I imagine taking a photo of her swap piece is likely the least of her concerns. Granted, everyone has problems. Some worse than others. That’s why we empathise and tolerate complications. I too have my own issues I’m dealing with. Deep breaths people.
Are there things to be suspicious about? Sure. But is it really worth the energy to get upset, annoyed, it frustrated about it?
That all said, I hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas.
December 27, 2017 at 7:29 pm #1533628I ran a few of the swaps in the past and I’d be more then happy to do it again.
Dragonmedley already keeps the feedback lists as it is, but it’s up to her. I had fun organizing it honestly and I’m always happy to help out if needed.
I actually pulled Melody for myself once but I didn’t like the feeling about that and reshuffled her back into the swap, but that’s just me. I’d feel shady if I was organizing it and it worked out like that personally.</p>

This would be me. Probably because of my anxiety, but if I was the organizer and pulled Melody to paint for me I’d do the same and reshuffle her back in. I couldn’t deal with people thinking I was acting shady about it. Taking advantage of the situation.
Honestly, I think as an organizer of the swap, you shouldn’t be allowed to have Melody paint for you. A rule, if you will. It’s too easy to pick who you want to paint for you, so I think it would help eliminate these situations. We are indeed still missing a number of pieces. I’m not even sure if anyone dropped out of this swap and we just don’t know? I know it’s rare for it to happen, but it HAS in the past. Has everyone shipped their pieces? If you haven’t received your swap, please say so. If you’ve received your swap and just never posted pictures, please mention this as well.

I was thinking of that as a rule too, so no one can feel hurt in the future. If you’re a host/hostess, you cannot get a paint from Melody. And I’m not gonna lie, it would suck to give up a valid draw, but as the host/hostess it should go to participants in my opinion. Luvs!
December 28, 2017 at 1:11 am #1533633I would also be happy to host in the future and think the rule that the host is exempt from Melody Paints is a good one. That way no one can feel like the host is taking advantage. I actually think probably the easiest way to ensure everyone feels things are totally fair would be to have TWO hosts. Each host would take half the names, then draw them out in order. Then they could switch lists and assign paint schemes that way. For instance , Host A gets six names and labels them 1-6 in order of draw. Host B does the same thing for their six names. Then they are just paired by number – 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, etc. I’m not 100% sure how that would work if there’s an uneven number of entrants…I’ll thibk about it when I’m not exhausted and/or tipsy 😂

Bwahaha! I did the exact same thing!
I thanked Allie in a PM for picking up organizing the last 2 swaps… I’m out of organizing for time being. Heck, I haven’t participated in the swaps for the first time since they started!
Whoever wants to organize next, if you need the info I used to start it, let me know.

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmDecember 28, 2017 at 7:05 am #1533641We are indeed still missing a number of pieces. I know that I emailed the organizer and provided a tracking number when I sent my PYO to my Swap Partner – did everyone else do this also? Since I’m one of the few who have not received their swap piece it would be nice to have the tracking number to see where in the mail/shipping it is and when I might expect it to arrive. This would also be a good check for the shipper and organizer to confirm swap pieces arrived and which have not yet.
At this time of year with a major Holiday the USPS/UPS and other shippers may need extra time to deliver because of the shear volume of packages. And as some have experienced first hand, even if you have the correct mailing address on your package, sometimes the shipper does deliver to an incorrect address, or *a-hem* other ‘things’ happen …. neighbors or others with sticky fingers?
Perhaps in the future a good rule of thumb would be to ensure the organizer receives your tracking number and then they can pass it on to your Swap Partner. I believe the anticipation will still be there and I don’t think the surprise will be any less. I for one don’t know where all of you live or even the State or if you are in Canada or International – unless I’ve had dealings with you. Besides, you still won’t know what your Swap piece will be until you open your package – but you will have a good idea when to expect it. And then if you don’t you can raise any red flags if the tracking mysteriously indicates it was ‘Delivered’ when you physically did not received it.
What do you think?
