I know someone who contacted the seller to ask what was up. The seller read this thread and decided to pull them. They are trying to find someone who can tell them for sure whether the dragons are repaints or authentic. When they do know they are planning on selling them and will likely re-list them on Ebay… they just didn’t want to sell them without being able to answer any of the questions they were getting about them.
December 11, 2011 at 5:26 pm #865212If anyone is in contact with the seller…. If these were repainted AFTER they were all finished, then there *might* be traces of the original color around the insides of the eyesockets, or possibly black paint on the eyes themselves.

December 12, 2011 at 8:04 am #865266I don’t think these are from the few black ones sold to stores. Those had gold details and purple tints to the black. At the most, they are black-base coated figures from the old factory.
December 14, 2011 at 7:44 pm #865550I asked about the gold detailing & they said there was none. Also asked about other colors showing or hues of purple & they said they where flat black.
After I asked those questions I got this e-mail back:
I was not familiar with Windstone Editions Dragons, while this item was put up i was researching on the black dragons, when i could not find any black dragons, i contacted windstone dragons to see if they made solid black colored dragons, i was told there were only a few made as give aways and 6 made for a store in pasadena. And there appears to be alot of controversy over these so i felt it best to close the auction to confirm these are not repaints.
So sorry everyone! I didn’t mean to bug them with questions so they would pull the auction 🙁 I was almost thinking about bidding myself hoping they where the black dragons 🙁
December 14, 2011 at 8:36 pm #865556I feel a little bad for the seller pulling the auction, but if I was that seller I would probably have pulled it too until I could find out more about what I was selling. I wouldn’t want a buyer to end up paying a lot of money for them thinking they were rare, and then have them get upset and/or want to return them if they turned out to be repaints.
