Can you guide me to this thread? So I know which area of the board I have to check for future pre-warnings? I only checked the actual Announcements category and saw Melody’s post when the store had already been updated. I believe there’s been a bit of discussion about the curlies in the ‘Windstone Store Discussion’ subforum. That’s where Susie keeps tabs on what’s posted. 🙂
That’s true, there were rumors of the curlies going up in the store the previous week, and Susie got slammed with phone calls the next day about them, yet she told me that nobody could tell her where they saw anything definitive that they were supposed to be in the store. She said that from the looks of the curlies, they were not anywhere near ready to go out, they didn’t even have their eyes yet, and unless you see an announcement in the “store announcements” section, by her or Pam, then any speculative threads otherwise are not based on fact.

EVEN if there was a notice put out a few days, that does not chance the fact that the only way to get one of the curlies is to actualy be online when they go up, and even if a date and time(which i think would be highly not fair to ask, but for enphasis) they would still fly out the door in a matter of hours and there still would be people that did not get one.
If we did not have this forum at all, like on other store websites, when an item would be put it up, it would be up for grabs to who spots it first.
Not flaiming any one for having feeling of wanting a better chance to get something though. 🙂
I think we all have had those feelings..and realy, when it comes to trading, isn;t that what it is about? trying to get something that you really wanted?

I’m just waiting around for luck to be on my side one of these times I miss out and maybe I will hit the next batch.
Although, I do have to say I miss the old days before the net got so high in the chain of sales that I could actually go to a store and see the piece, and ALL pieces were available to EVERYONE. But, then again, back then, I KNEW I wasn’t the only one collecting…but I didn’t know ANYONE else who collected.
I have to say, sometimes, when I see those pieces on ebay, the ones I really want…And I see a price tag that seems outrageous to me, I have to shake my head just like the next person, but if that is what the person wants to do with pieces they buy so be it. I DON’T have to buy them do I? 🙂 (Although I am guilty of buying a few pieces for more than I could afford, but cinched the belt down to keep them.)

After looking at the picture, I may keep it… we’ll see. Some forum members will never be happy. They put out a batch of 50 this time instead of twenty and they limited it to one per customer. Still, people are complaining. Windstone should not have to notify people when things will be in the store nor should they have to bend over backwards to please everyone. What small buisness does that? Dave, you’re the man and summed up the sillyness perfectly. What we do with our stuff is no ones buisness unless you want to buy or trade for it. If you cant sit at the computer all day, have medical appointments, or faulty computers, thats no ones fault and no one should feel they have to compensate for individual needs like that. This would not even be a discussion if there was not a Windstone forum. Think about that a minute… This is said in the nicest possible way while still conveying my irritation at having another forum member singled out for doing nothing legally wrong, in a forum that is made for the purpose she was using. :bye:

I agree Windstone doesn’t HAVE to do any of that. I’m actually really happy about the one per customer rule that was designated which allowed me to be able to get one, (otherwise I’m sure they would have been gone in like 2 minutes) but also I feel for the fustration for someone who really wanted it and then… BAM, they’re all over the place being traded and already on ebay. It’s fustrating…. none the less… There’s nothing anyone can do about it. Windstne does ENOUGH for us and is trying their best to make us all happy and no matter what efforts they go to, there’s ALWAYS going to be someone who’s unhappy. I’ve been there,(many times, haha) but I think that this is the most “sucessful happiness for the forum memebers all around” we’ve had for a long time as far as a new release sculpture goes. There’s always like 10 threads in the flea market “anyone get an extra ______?” Even if some people are bitter, there WILL be a second batch and we have to at least be happy about that.

How was I throwing stones?? I did have a faulty computer and I was frusterated when that happened. I was here when they came out, just sitting there in the store, waiting to be plucked, and I couldnt get one. Not only that, but the new ‘only buy one’ rule prevented anyone else for getting one for me. When I gave up trying to get one, I didnt come on here and bitch about what the people who did get one did with it. If Susie didnt see my message or I didnt get one, then oh well. I dont have a problem with Nyet being upset that she didnt get one… Its the ‘im entitled to one more than so and so because I want it more’ that kinda irritated me… especially when it was in a trade and swap thread of the person she was critisizing.

At the same token you were posting several times about how since Windstone was only doing one per customer it was inconveniencing you so you were pissed. It happens to the best of us. (just look up some of my old posts) If your mad about that, it’s just my opinion and nothing you should really even care about. Not mad, I didnt understand the stone throwing comment. Tatt2d did this same thing to me in my thread, so maybe thats why im over sensitive about it. As for biting my tongue, I do. But we cant sensor everything, or nothing gets said and there would be no point in coming here anymore. I do try to say what I mean nicely and still get my point across. (and I do care about what you think. You have been around here a long time and have seen situations like this before. I think having seen this happen before, you can give some good input, maybe from another perspective. I care what Nyet thinks, too, I just dont agree with the way she went about it is all.) I was not trying to come across as mean, but maybe I do. I guess I cant really help that unless I load the page with smilies… 🙂
The buying only one thing did get to me, but in a way, I like it. More people can get one, but if friends arrange to watch the store at certain times, then they were SOL in this instance. This change came out because of all the complaining. Now, there is still complaining… makes me wonder what exactly Windstone is expected to do? I thought, considering supply and demand and all, that limiting purchases is not a buisness decision, but made to make some on here happy. I know lots of people did like it and it was really nice of Windstone to do it. It will limit the number of reselling, which many think is unethical, and make the PO rich. Thats something.
Honestly, I really love the one per customer thing because EVERYONE gets a fair shot on the FIRST batch which is obviously the most “hot” and sought after one. They’re the “it’s FINALLY out I HAVE to get one NOW batch” which some resellers take full advantage of. Though I have called in favors from friends before and the no notice on the one per customer thing may have caught some members off guard, there will be a 2nd batch. I myself was relying on that too! I ran into the same situation as you, but then they called me on my cell and told me to GET MY ASS TO A COMPUTER QUICK! LOL! and if they didn’t do that, I probably would have gotten one either.
It does leave a sour taste in most peoples mouths when the whole store gets bought out by a few people and next thing you know they’re all over ebay. I don’t think the one per is necessarily needed for 2nd, 3rd, and so fourth batches so much unless it’s something there have only a ridiculously limited quantity of, but it was pretty nice this time around to see more happy forum members then usual getting a new Windstone as opposed to a bunch of unhappy members paying scalping prices and sending an onslaught of emails to Susie or Melody for more!

I think Windstone was really trying to please as many people as possible. :yes: How many businesses care to do that? If they continue to do this, and I hope they do for the new things, we just need to come up with other ways to notify our friends. Email, texting and phone calls work. 😉

This. 🙂 I was delighted by the one per person rule, and saddened they still vanished so quickly (not for myself, but the folks not around those few hours). I think it’s wonderful how much Windstone has done to accommodate us, when they’re selling these to make money. I’d much rather give my money to them than some opportunist on eBay.
Well, when you think about it, a batch of 50 would only retail for $2500.00 plus shipping. I think we are all fortunate about that rule, and that in the past, one person hasn’t just purchased the ENTIRE batch at once–if that happened, we would all be paying much higher costs on Ebay for these pieces. I think that as long as the store can easily sell out the next batch, there should be a limit of 2 on the next batch, also. After all, what if Donald Trump joins the forum? XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD
I realy like the one per customer. I understand that computers problems happen and we are not always online all the time and we miss out. I did with the spotted griffin chicks. I was so upset about it that I even cried. I knew windstone was making more (which I hope they will soon 🙂 but I wanted it then. Anywho that day I got a letter from a horse rescue that I had given money in the past. They needed donations to buy horses before they went to the slaughter house. I donated the money I would have spent on my griffin chicks to the rescue. Sometimes things happen and we don’t know why but there might be a reason for it. Maybe you will need 50 bucks for something that you wouldn’t of had if you got your curlie the day it came out. Thats just my 2 cents worth of thought lol. I am off to bed 😀
