In addition to “Individuals/users may only contact others to inquire about specific pieces NOT listed as “for sale or trade” once annually, and may under no circumstance “hound”, harass, bother, or otherwise bother that individual repeatedly.”…unless the individual requests you not contact them about it again. In this case, you may NOT contact them once annually?? I’m just thinking about those who do not want to be asked again…
I like the wording of the exception to the rule. If it’s something you don’t want to say publically, then perhaps you shouldn’t send it in a PM (when it comes to this sort of thing)
Wanted: "Dragon Fruit" Male Dragon ~ "Fire Berry", "Paradise", "Dragon Fruit", "Tie Dye" ~ The brighter, the better!
June 12, 2017 at 8:43 am #1526773I think it sounds good and I like the suggestion Angelika_Zen has added to help cover those that do not want to be contacted after the initial contact. It seems to cover all of the issues for everyone.
My only concern is to figure out how to make sure that everyone sees the new updates as many don’t read the rules and guidelines after they initially join. And that’s hoping they actually read them when they did join.
Perhaps the rules could be sent out in an email as a friendly reminder once a year or so? That way no one can claim that they “couldn’t” find the information or had no knowledge of it.

I agree. I will add something like that to the rule when I actually write it.

Not sure if we can send mass emails to the forum members, and if we can I’m not sure I’d want to… I can make it an announcement (across all forums) and have Melody mention it on the next raffle announcement/winner though.

My art: featherdust.comJune 12, 2017 at 5:12 pm #1526787I think that sounds fair but again I think the one or two people that have been the ones to send multiple messages are actually sending emails from here rather than pms on here so does the rule apply to emails or pms originating from here? Because I don’t want people to think they can get around the rules by sending emails vs pms. I think if it happens once a warning should suffice and if it happens again then maybe a temporary ban from contacting people?
Also what about a rule about people not sending their part of a trade or swap? The one person who didn’t send out their parts of trades to several people a couple years ago got away with it several times over the course of a few years and was never banned and people lost pieces and money because of that. She was warned but I think there should be a stricter rule on here that if someone does not send out their part of a trade or swap they they should get a warning and if they do not respond or send the piece or a refund within 30 days after the warning that they should be banned temporarily or permanently from trading on here again.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
June 15, 2017 at 4:56 am #1526829There have been a few threads like this lately and it’s part of why I’ve been more quiet too. I blocked the person who was harassing me, and I think it’s the same person that Matty and so many others have dealt with. That person definitely isn’t the only one who has pestered someone about a piece, but the multitude of demanding emails and asking for photos of pieces sounds like her. I also haven’t ever seen this person post on the forum, so have no idea if she’s seen these threads. Might be useful to have a moderator warn those who are doing the harassing directly?
The rule change sounds good to me too. It’s really awful that it was about the raffle prize too. Sorry you had to deal with that, Matty.
June 15, 2017 at 8:37 am #1526831I’ll get the “new” rule written up this afternoon and posted. If you guys experience this behavior on the forum either in posts or in PMs (Private Messages), please report it to so so that we can keep it in check!

If people are using email, there isn’t much we can do. We can only implement rules when it comes to Windstone space (meaning: happening on this forum or other Windstone “space” such as the official Facebook, etc).
If you don’t want people to email you unprompted, consider not listing your email in public. Send it via PM to those that you wish to have your email. I know that’s a pain, but we can’t control what happens with people’s personal email accounts. If they are PMing you and being harassing, though, that we can certainly do something about! And we definitely do have rules about trading/selling though our site. If someone is not honoring their trade that was initiated on the Windstone site, please send all records of the trade gone bad to our staff (keeping good records of trades/sales is in everyone’s best interest). Ultimately John decides if it warrants a warning or a ban.

My art: featherdust.comJune 19, 2017 at 4:26 pm #1526947Here’s a reminder that there are Feedback Lists maintained outside of our website by a forum user where you can report your transaction experiences with other people and also check on someone before doing business with them. Be sure to read all of the lists when searching for someone’s feedback, sometimes experiences of more than one kind have been reported. https://windstoneeditions.com/the-windstone-forum/topic/feedback-lists-2/ – the more people report things, the more valuable these lists become!
July 16, 2017 at 3:42 pm #1527858Hi everyone. I see that my thread picked up a few voices! I have been away for awhile.. long story but I will be back on the threads. The positive of this thread has been that we as a community have come out to share our struggles, but have also come together as a group to find new solutions to keep this community a positive place for everyone, new and old! I think that is amazing. We all deserve a pat on the back!
Thank you to everyone that has contributed to these changes!

Thank you Matty for giving us another chance! We sometimes experience “growing pains” in our little community and sometimes all goes smoothly, and at other times it does not. I hope we can always work to make as many feel welcome here as we can!
