      I couldn’t remember if this went in Ask Melody or General Windstones…so I just picked one.

      Presenting, for your entertainment (and free of my personal ramblings and misgivings about this piece), the final submission for the 2017 Bardic college year. Please enjoy!

      “A Windstone’s Winter Melody”

      The poads came up from out the south,
      chirruping as they went;
      Their tiny beaks clacking–
      good cheer, not lacking!–
      atwitter and quite content.

      The kirins came from the frozen north,
      Prancing o’er snow and hill;
      With golden horns shining
      and silver bells chiming,
      they frolicked amidst the chill.

      The unicorns came from out the east,
      collared with wreaths of pine;
      their dark eyes glistened,
      containing their bliss and
      joy for the night’s design.

      The dragons flew out of western lands
      down from the mountains high,
      with boughs of holly
      and laughter quite jolly
      they soared upon the sky.

      The griffins received the honor this year
      of hosting the merry meet;
      their spirits were high
      as they prepared and put by
      the festive decor and treats.

      In no time at all they’d gathered together,
      “Merry Christmas!” sounding out;
      the fire burned bright
      throughout the night
      as presents were strewn about.

      The poads were all singing a winter carol
      louder than one would think;
      it’s likely the glogg
      or the “fancy” egg nog–
      of course you’d blame the drink!

      Others joined in and soon it got crazy;
      that much is expected at least.
      With friends around
      the joys do abound
      especially if there’s a feast!

      With good song and great cheer the longnight soon passed;
      the morn broke with the dawn.
      in a manner most meetly,
      the sun smiled sweetly;
      the gathered began to yawn.

      So they took to their roosts or curled up together,
      losing themselves in dreams;
      heedless of snow
      and carefree of woe,
      bathed in the warmth of sunbeams.
