Okay, well I am not sure what to do, which is why I am turning to you guys. I will start Student Teaching in January, and I need to start looking for daycares for Chloe to go into. When she starts daycare, she will be about 9 1/2 months old. I know there are daycare centers and in-home daycares, but I am not sure how to locate in home daycares. Also, I am not sure about which options might be cheaper. Also, my last and most important question-how can I make sure that Chloe will go into a safe and caring daycare environment?

        Quesions, Questions!! 😯
        Thanks in advance! 🙂

Thanks in advance! 🙂Check the paper for in home providers. Lots of them advertise in there. You can also ask friends for references, or go to daycares and look on their bulletin boards. As for making sure the place is safe, the best way to do that is ask for several references and talk to the folks who take their kids there. I like regular daycare because they have a curriculum and a schedule to follow that in home places dont.

I’ve never had to do daycare myself, but I will tell you what the Moms I know told me, and I was a Nanny for a few years so I can tell you about that. There are pros and cons of each. Daycare centers generally have more staff and more children (generally) the one that Jen has her baby in has a closed circuit monitoring system that she can see from work, which she loves. I have no idea how many offer that, but thats her favorite part. In home day care can be great or really bad. You REALLY have to check them out individually, tour the house, talk to mom’s whose kids are there, etc. A nanny is another option, again, you have to thouroughly interview and check referances. It all comes doen to what’s most comfortable for you. Some things to ask though are:
          the staff to child ratio
what happens if a child gets sick
what if a staff member is sick
what is the schedule during the day,
things like that! Hope that helps a little! Best of luck!

does the school you will be teaching in have a day care center. I know a lot of them in the Baltimore area have them..or maybe that’s just telling of our poor social system here 😕

Here in Canada there are agencies that find daycares for you and they are very well screened. So you might want to ask if you have those in your area.

Hmm, well I won’t find out my school placement until Friday, but I’ll check then!

I wonder where to ask though?

A business listing phonebook might have something, or you can always check your city homepage. They might have something (if you can navigate it).
