ok, I was able to do an ad. you fixed it. Scatterbat. 😉 not the notification tho. 🙁
April 1, 2012 at 2:26 am #877554Oh, are the ads working for you now Laurie? I didnt do anything, lol! Sorry about the notifications though. Did you say someone tried to help you fix the problem before?
Yes, there will soon be thumbnail and author columns on the main sale/trade/wanted pages, but for now you can only see them after using the filter.
April 1, 2012 at 3:00 am #877557Um yeah, thought it was you.
Drupal dragon and Jen tried to fix me with the notifications.
April 1, 2012 at 3:02 am #877558I vote “NO” on a non-windstone classifieds section. This is a Windstone website, not ebay or craigslist. To make an ‘official’ section for it is silly in my opinion. The only reason that there is a non-windstone flea market section at all was that people were complaining about non-windstone sales cluttering the windstone sales! Leave it on the forum.

April 1, 2012 at 5:49 am #877572Laurie you are so funny! But for once I actually agree with Jennifer.
But if at all possible split the non Windstone ads. As they do not belong in the same section. Also for those that don’t know this there is free advertising in the eBay classifieds.

April 1, 2012 at 8:45 am #877576I feel very confident that Pam will do everything in her power to take care of us as she always has. She will use her best judgment and make it all as user friendly as is possible within the parameters of the forum.
April 3, 2012 at 1:27 am #877677I think it’s a really great idea to streamline the ads. “Classified” sounds to me better than “Flea Market”, especially with the prices that go along with the pieces.
I haven’t tried the new form yet, but it looks pretty straightforward. I aslo like that the ads will expire so that the auther is forced to update or let it go. There are far too many old ads cluttering up the space on the forum.
Thank you for all the work you are putting into this!
Life is beautiful.
April 3, 2012 at 1:28 am #877678Sorry for some reason it posted twice.

April 4, 2012 at 5:52 pm #877768Unless I missed it and I may have, but every 10 days, or so, we have to confirm our messages or they will be deleted after another time period. So all those ads that nothing much has changed or have only gone down by an item or two now “Have” to be confirmed and therefore re-listing them or they will be lost and the same goes for our want lists. I believe I have 4 different type of lists in that area such as squeals, want to buy, wishlist, and I forget the other but even my want to buys are different from my wishlist. I think I have like 6 tabs open when I get my full set of windows on that bar set up. Now some are the same but some are not like a short list of those I really really want next, and those that I know are out there and would like at some point to fill out my set but no hurry on.
And the squeals for ones that you would like to see as production, or for ones out there in the want to buy like a #1 of some type/color. And if I have to update all those every 10 days that would certainly move a lot of files to the end being newer until that someone has to confirm that unchanged but still needed piece, or piece for sale.I hope all that made sense and I know no system is perfect and I did not like the when to bump either. I have some lists “wishlist” for instance I usually only change mine once I have a couple of pieces from it or it has been a long time. My short list is different as it gets changed anywhere from the 10 days or about 2 weeks up to a month. That way the newer stuff stays up a little longer for people to see before I re-post the one I have that has not changed or only changed by 1 item in the last month.
As I said nothing is perfect and will work with what ever is done.
April 4, 2012 at 8:23 pm #877774All ads placed in the wanted area have a 30-day lifespan. Only sales and trading ads have 10-day lifespans. After expiring, ALL ads will remain unpublished for 10 days before being permanently deleted. You can renew during those 10 days to republish your ad and save it from deletion
You do not need to completely repost an ad to renew it. You click “edit” when viewing your ad, and at the bottom check the button that says “reset expiration date”, then click “save”.
You don’t need to make separate ads for your different wanted lists. You can put them all in the same ad and say something like “these are the items I want the most”, “these are the ones I want almost as much”, “these are the items I might want”, etc.
I can make a fresh wish list thread in the General Windstone area, but these lists will only be for the items you dream of one day having. Any item that you are actively searching for or considering buying should go in the Classifieds.
Squeaks should stay in the Ask Melody section. The Classifieds are not for posting requests to Melody or to Windstone about colors or sculptures you want us to make. The Classifieds will only be replacing the Flea Market and Trade & Swap subforums.
I hope that answers your questions 🙂
April 6, 2012 at 6:47 am #877870Updated April 5, 2012:
We are still putting the finishing touches on our new Classified Ads area, but it is safe to start posting real ads there. The Classified Ads are located here: http://windstoneeditions.com/classified
These ads are for Windstones ONLY, not non-windstone stuff. We will eventually be closing the Flea Market subforum and the Trade & Swap subforum (I will make an announcement when I know for sure what date they will be closing). You are encouraged to start moving over your selling, wanted, and trading threads as soon as possible.
The classified area has a For Sale, Trading, and Wanted section. All For Sale and Trading ads will expire after 10 days if not renewed. Wanted ads expire after 30 days if not renewed. You will be emailed a warning message before your ad expires. After it expires, your ad will no longer be viewable to other people. You will have another 10 days to renew your expired ad before it is permanently deleted. To access a list of all your ads, click “my account” (top of the page) and then click the “ads” tab. Expired ads will have their expiration date shown in red.
Here are the known issues that we are still working on:
-On some pages, preview images do not work correctly.
-All ads are counted twice!
-When you make an ad, there is a box at the bottom that says Classified Ad Expiration, and it’s empty (it’s supposed to be though).
-The warning emails are supposed to contain a link to your classified ads, but the link doesn’t work. To access a list of all your ads, click “my account” (top of the page) and then click the “ads” tab.If you encounter any other problems, please post them here!
April 6, 2012 at 12:03 pm #877875Another question: will the classifieds eventually become part of the forums, like they are now, so in their own section when you get to the forum home page? Because I’m someone who checks the New posts/Active lists and buys/trades from there.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.
http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmApril 6, 2012 at 5:26 pm #877882I’m not sure, I will have to look into it.
April 6, 2012 at 6:16 pm #877886I could not find any ways to integrate the Classifieds with the Forum, sorry.
