I have a Canon, and it takes really nice pictures in good lighting. Unfortunately, it’s really hard to take good pictures in artificial light or to take pictures of any kind of small detail with this camera.
April 22, 2008 at 2:52 am #692354I have a Nikon Coolpix L12. My mom got it for me when it was on sale so we paid less than the $179.95 MSRP.

I love my Moms Sony Cybershot. It’s a really nice camera, but, she bought the one with the rechargeable battery. Good in theory, not practical! She travels, alot. Last year she went to Spain. She couldn’t use her camera……
But, we also use Sony Cybershot at work. (The kind without the rechargeable battery) It really is a great little camera.
My Canon has the night setting, it depends on the model. π
Oh yes, I know, and the rechargeable battery is great in the Cybershot. But, just pointing out that if you travel especially to Europe then the rechargeable battery isn’t a good idea. Well, if you don’t mind running out and buying a new camera in the middle of a trip, just because normal batteries won’t fit…… long story……:lol:I’m just saying that is what bothers me about my camera. That and, it isn’t that great at fine details, but, that depends on the model as well. π Boy, I had to edit this, but, I don’t think it worked. I have a cold and I’m suffering from allergies. So, I’m probably coming across as sarcastic and grumpy. I’m not, I just don’t know how to get this to sound like I want it too….. π π₯ π (Kidding about the sad and crying part……)
Camera shopping is complicated, you have to know what you need the camera for. I kind of miss my old camera. Film is a hassle but, the cameras weren’t as complicated.

I still have my old camera’s too..I love doing the film and stuff…
hehe
April 22, 2008 at 3:13 am #692357I have a Canon powershot A570 IS. I love my camera! It has alot of settings including one that takes great pics at the aquarium, and in low light and macro. I would kill for a Canon rebel though…I can dream. But it’s very easy to use and has an image stabalizer, you can literally shake the camera and still get a clear picture.
April 22, 2008 at 4:38 am #692358I too have a Sony Cybershot- best camera I’ve ever owned. It’s an 828.

My art: featherdust.comApril 22, 2008 at 5:12 am #692359I have a Kodak Easyshare DX4530; it’s pretty good. I wouldn’t say it’s the best though.
April 22, 2008 at 7:02 am #692360I’ve got a Canon EOS 40D, which is a damn good camera… (it’s just the photographer that needs some work ). But, honestly, for that kind of money you could get one of the SKs on eBay. In the same range, the Nikon D80 is about the same (a few little differences), though only slightly cheaper. I’m guessing that’s not much help though, ne?
I’ve also got a Canon Powershot… I think the A550, but I don’t know where it is to verify. It’s decent, but all my Windstone pics taken with it are less than great. Trying to get good detailing was horrible, but again, that could be the idiot behind the camera. Stuff like trips to the zoo were very good though, so it depends on usage… and if you’re any good with cameras .
I’m sure that doesn’t help much… but I hope you find what you’re wanting.
April 23, 2008 at 1:12 am #692361lol..I guess I am the odd one now. My old digital camera was a Canon Powershot S100. It was the kind with the rechargeable battery. The battery kept on running out and would only let me take about 5 pics and then die. I recently got a new camera, it is a Olympus E-410 and I love it. You can see what it has on the website Blackdesertwind gave:

My parents paid $500 for it. It came with 2 different lenses (with hoods-I think that is what they are called), a free memory card, 2 rechargable batteries, a charger, every cord that you need, and a camera bag. They got it from Costco.com.
Anyway, good luck with finding a camera. π

I took these with my little camera… and its digital…
and of course a PYO that I did and sold.. π
Serenity, how is it possible to catch a photo of lightning? I tried once, but to no avail. Do you have to wait for a lightning storm with lots of lightning at once?
And to answer the question, I have a Kodak Easyshare c875. I think it’s a really good camera, but I am sure there are better ones out there.

Yeah, I have a Kodak easy share currently… a 7500? Something like that. And it takes awful pictures… and if you look at them at their largest size, they are blurry π
