No, I’m not kidding, this is in fact a cake. This astounding Dungeons and Dragons-themed cake was created for a gamer’s 30th birthday by Mike’s Amazing Cakes. Click here to see more! Welcome to the world of incredible edible art; I love this sort of thing! The various cakes from world-renowned pastry chefs that were featured in the special 10th anniversary edition of Oprah’s magazine were awe-inspiring as well. If you didn’t see this edition, here are some of the highlights:
Ron Ben-Israel’s Vanilla Cake with Pistachio and Apricot Buttercreams
Sylvia Weinstock’s Angel Food Cake with Lime, Coconut, and Blood Orange Buttercreams
Buddy Valastro’s Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting (Watch him in action on TLC’s Cake Boss)
Bill Yosses’ Black Forest Cake (This guy is the White House pastry chef for the Obamas!)
And of course, for all you cupcake fans…
Mindy Segal’s Milk Chocolate and Milk Stout Cupcakes
—> Let’s all fill this thread with our favorite photos of phenomenal desserts and other completely edible wonders! 😀

May 27, 2010 at 2:52 am #815982Great dragon cake!
And I love watching Cake Boss. I live about 1/2 an hour from there so I’ve gone a couple of times. They make really, really good crumb cake. I’m actually not a big fan of Italian pastries but they make a chocolate puff pastry that is very good. It’s worth the trip and the wait on the line for their goodies! 😀

Does who teach? Do you mean Amber of SweetAmb’s? She’s a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, lives in Chicago, and runs an online Etsy store. (Which currently isn’t accepting orders) That is all I know. I’m discovering all these treats for the first time myself. 🙂 -
