I’ve read at least twice all the Valdemar books, the Dragoniders of Pern, most of the Anita Blakes except for the few last volumes, some of the Merry Gentrys, PN Elrod, Sara Douglass 2 trilogies, The Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb (incidentally, I like all her stuff, but that one is my favorite), Jean Aeul (sp?), Sisters of the raven, a few titles in French and of course, all of my comics French and English. I’m sure I’m forgetting some…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

That’s on my list to read this year; I’ll have to get to it soon.
And kitsunelady, with the exception of the McCaffrey books, nearly everything on your list is a ‘keeper’ in my collection. It’s been too long since I revisited any of the Limberlost books–I think my mom took those with her to California.
With McKinley (how I adore ‘Beauty’!) surely it doesn’t hurt to ask. After all, it is a compliment! If I were ever published, I’d never do public signings–but something in the mail like that wouldn’t be intrusive. (Unless a truck backs up with 2,000 books! 😆 )
November 20, 2008 at 2:41 pm #742093“Beauty” is an awesome book…it’s another I’ve read over and over….I have a copy of “Outlaws of Sherwood” that I still havent gotten around to reading, that I got a while back. 🙂

Is that a rude thing to do? I’m not sure if authors or other famous people go for that…I’ve never done it before, but I heard one of the Beatles recently told people to stop sending him stuff…peace and love, but leave him alone! XD So oh well. I’m certainly not paying $170 for the copy signed to another person (someone named Brownie, heh) that’s up for sale on Amazon Marketplace…and it’s in nowhere near as good condition as my copy, anyways. 9.9;; Stained? Bleh, no thanks.
Some authors offer pre-signed bookplates that they have signed that you can put in your books.
November 20, 2008 at 8:53 pm #742095A lot of authors I know are more than happy to sign books if you mail them and include postage to mail back. Others will sign bookplates. I asked MaryJanice Davidson to send me some and she sent 20!!
Books I re-read: J.D. Robb, Stephen King, David Eddings, Laurell K. Hamilton (mostly the Merry series), Guy Gavriel Kay (the Fionavar series makes me cry everytime I read the ending), Ann Bishop (again, I cry at the end of the Black Jewels series every single time)…there are many more but I’m trying to get my TBR piles down a bit so no more re-reading for a while.

Geh, that’s what worries me. XD I don’t want to be one of hundreds of fans trying to dump their books on her. But that thing about signed bookplates is good! I’d settle for a signed bookplate!
I’ll definitely email her after she’s not so busy with craziness. =) You guys are inspiring me. XD
Oh, and I remember The Celery Stalks At Midnight! @ Barrdwing. That was one of the Bunnicula books that I lost. =D Cute.
I also read the Liveship Traders, but I thought it was kinda sad. >>; I won’t say why, because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who’s interested in reading it~
Adaneth, you don’t like Anne McCaffrey? =0 Or you just haven’t read them? Also, I think I’ve read A Girl of the Limberlost at least 5 times. =D It’s probably one of my favorite books ever. I even have the movie on VHS! It’s kinda disappointing though, because it’s only like half the story…and they left out the neighbors who were a major part of it! I forget their names…but they adopted Billy. After which hilarity ensued. XD

I am a dragon FIEND and I must admit that I truly do not like her books, and I’ve read several (and tried to read others). >_o;;

My art: featherdust.comNovember 21, 2008 at 2:27 am #742099I really only loved the first three in the Pern series, myself. I didn’t mind the others but they just didn’t hit me the same way.

I don’t see how it could hurt to ask.
Me, I’m always reading All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. I have a much battered and much loved paperback that goes with me everywhere. When it finally falls apart I’m going to be heartbroken.
I read James Herriot so much in high school that my mother tried to get me an autographed copy of one of those books for Christmas one year before the guy passed away. I have all of his books and they’re so battered and beaten I’ve considered hunting down hardback copies.
I’ve read Where the Red Fern Grows way too many times to count. The Book of Night with Moon by Diane Duane, the Harry Potter series I had to buy in hardback because I would have destroyed paperback copies by now. Also The Lord of the Rings (why yes, I *am* a geek) and my Zits and Calvin and Hobbes books.
I’m always on the lookout for another author or series that would keep me reading over and over again, but I guess I’m picky, cuz for me those kinds of books are difficult to come by.
November 21, 2008 at 3:19 am #742101Let’s see…David Eddings, pretty much all his series except the Dreamers, haven’t gotten into it yet.
Mercedes Lackey…Arrows series, Vanyel, and Gryphon series are the most frequently revisited of the Valdemar stories. The Fire Rose has been read so often I finally got it in hardback.
Dave Duncan’s Reluctant Swordsman series has been read a lot.
Jean Auel gets re-read now and then in hopes that when I finish the next book will be out, but I think she may be done.
Summon the Keeper by Tanya Huff has been read so much I may have to get a new copy, but it is so funny and I just love Austin and Claire, Austin is her cat, and yes, he talks! Often with sarcasm…love that cat.Sword Dancer series by Jennifer Roberson is a favorite…I particularly love the beginning of book two where he describes the whole experience of being bucked off of his stallion, classic! No horse likes having a man dangling off his head like a bit of uncooked egg….
Mermaid’s Song by Alida Van Gores, I wish you guys could share reading that one with me, but unfortunately it is out of print and nearly impossible to find, my first copy is taped together, and the second one I managed to find is more or less under lock and key. I may be persuaded to loan out the taped up one, but it would have to be returned, but it is worth it…this is one mermaid story I would wish could be put up on the silver screen, not a single human in the whole story, and dragons are involved.
Other writers Beatrice Small, yeah a romance writer, but I will grab any one of her books when I need a book to read any day…good stories and easy to sink into. Favorite is Skye O’Malley.
I could go on and on, I love new books too though…
Childhood favorites I read over and over were The Shy Ones and Golden Cloud I have both here somewhere, but the authors escape me…first one is about a girl and her dog, the other a boy and his horse…both are great stories.

Really? I wonder why. o.o Although, Dragonsong and Dragonsinger are the only two I can read repeatedly. The rest…once was enough. I think the last one I read that I really liked was All the Weyrs of Pern. That was a pretty good finale for me. >.>;
What dragon books DO you like? =D
November 21, 2008 at 3:49 am #742104The only books I’ve read more than once have been “The Hobbit,” “The Three Musketeers,” and “Gulliver’s Travels.” I will probably read “Frankenstein” again because I’m going to be writing a paper on it soon.
