Nope, we just come from a time when we can remember not being charged fees for every small transaction… 😕 And not being charge a monthly “Service Fee”.
But Yay!! On the amount we’ve collected. 😆

Wow.
No, they don’t. But other merchandising accounts do, like if you accept Visa and M/C through your own terminal at a store.
So, with PayPal, there may be a transaction fee, but you don’t have to pay a monthly service fee.

I would rather pay the fees to the bank than to PayPal anyday.
– Full control of the transactions, place and refund at will
– No third party involved, additional point of failure, privacy, etc.
– Control batches and deposits, not individual deposits for every transaction
– Monthly combined service fees, not stripped from each sale
– Adjustable discount rates based on sales volume, not a fixed 3.4% rate (thanks PayPal, screw the Canadians) PLUS per transaction fees
– Ability to take direct debit / Interac
– Ability to pre-authorize – oh yes. Try that with PayPal. You take their money, then if you don’t ship immediately, you have a dispute on your hands. Pre-authorize ensures you don’t get screwed out of your money, but neither does the client if you don’t ship.
– Your name and phone number on the client’s bank statement – not PPYou don’t even have to get a terminal. When I first started I used IVR – interactive voice response. You work with the old batch slips but you phone into the system and key in the cards and get authorization numbers. $10 a month plus transaction fees. Very useful for on-the-road sales and low volume.
The trouble with PP is they play on people’s LAZY FACTOR, and people are willing to pay for it.
