(Darn PayPal though, for sure.)
Much as it pains me to say anything at all in defense of this particular corporation, 4% in fees is high, but not totally outrageous. On the credit card terminal in my store I pay 3% or more in fees on mail orders, plus other monthly charges.
What we are paying for is the ease and security of the transfer of funds. We could save the $59.83+ fees by having everyone send in a check, through the mail. But if we did that we might have only raised about $60 total by now, and have to wait a few extra weeks to make sure the checks cleared before passing on the money.
Anyway, that’s my argument. My counter argument is that I normally point to the totally outrageous fees charged by PayPal as being a reason to not deal with them. What am I? The 21st Century Schizoid Man?
