I am so sorry you are losing Pixie I know how that feels because I lost Tristen (my chow) the lst of April and am still crying when I think about him. He was 13 1/2 and I have had him since he was 9 months old. My heart goes out to you.

I didn’t say much when Tristen died – but I knew that within a couple of months I’d be going through the same thing. That’s why I avoided the topic, really, I didn’t want to think about it. I’m kinda being forced to, though. Work isn’t nearly distracting enough.
And thank you everyone.
May 13, 2009 at 1:10 am #764539It is just so hard. It has been 10 years since I lost Brandi, but everytime I hear some talk about their beloved pet, it feels like I am back in that moment. I found this poem very helpful. The webpage with the graphics adds to it also. The link to it is
http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htmJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

Taken in 2002. One of the more recent pics I have, but this is the Pixie I remember. Young and vibrant.
Annnddd…… you said puppy, so I had to include this one –
Proof that Pixie and Fluff were once the the same size. She’s such a pretty puppy. She’s still pretty, but you can really tell that she’s old. She’s got lots of fat deposits, and her limbs have atrophied some because she can’t really walk anymore.
No news yet on her, though.

May 14, 2009 at 6:29 pm #764548Im very sorry about your pooch. Those pictures were great. We will be here for you when the time comes, and unfortunately, it comes too soon for all of our furry friends. They should have longer life spans. π
May 14, 2009 at 8:05 pm #764549My neighbour’s dog is really starting to show her age. I don’t think she’ll be with us much longer. And I love her, Keltie is such a sweetie. π

Aww. π That sucks.
I think I’m just having a bad month for people (and pets) that I love dying. My grandmother’s neighbor dropped dead about a month ago (I’ve known him since ….. since when? I don’t remember NOT knowing him), and the lady who made the scarf that I had on Buckeye when I got him…. (I can’t find the link sorry) died recently. I wasn’t expecting either of them, and I was close to them both. It’s been such a hard couple of months and knowing I’m gonna lose my puppy (she’s still one to me) on top of it all is really threatening to break me.
π₯May 15, 2009 at 2:55 pm #764551I am so sorry. π₯ Pixie is such a beautiful gal!
