September 17, 2007 at 5:48 pm #615191Are we really that evil? {chuckles maniacally}
September 18, 2007 at 5:43 am #615192I love how he thought you were all the same person! XD
September 18, 2007 at 7:06 am #615193Poor Ski! I ve seen that happen to others online in different situations. Ppl will be having a flame war and it’s pretty much a board against one person. Then some nyms that are either new oer never post and only lurk will come in and say “yanno, STFU, this guy is right,” etc, and stand up for this underdog. Immediately someone will spout off that the individual getting flamed will have just made up new nyms to add support for his argument and that anyone on his side are all the same person- him.
But, as WE all know, it is certainly not only Ski that went and talked to this seller. Unfortunately, she was the one that landed the typical response that she was a multi-nym. Knowing Ski though, Im sure shes laughing it off and couldnt care less! Wish there was a way to find out if the buyer/winner really wanted a peacock or empea. Will have to look at feedback if I remember. And, we assume that the winner knows the difference in person. We’ll see. I probably wont remember so someone keep it posted here if anything new happens!
September 18, 2007 at 8:23 am #615194Hehehee… I laughed at him and called him names (Just like poor Rudolph) and then I got the “Piss off Wanker” speech. 😆 He asked if I harrased everyone like this. I told him “Nope. You’re special.” This guy is ridiculous! 😆
I will probably look back PT, and see what the feedback left is. I will let you know if I see anything.

To come back to the buyer, it is possible to contact him. I’ve done this before where I contacted a buyer about something he had purchased for his camera and asked him if he had like it and if it was worth it. He answered me and all went well. So if someone contacts this buyer (callie9467) I’m sure he/she would respond.No, you shouldn’t do this. Contacting a buyer to ask if they were happy is one thing, but you cannot ‘warn’ a buyer against an item/seller though eBay. It could get you in trouble or worse. It’s against eBay’s policy.

Hey that “piss off wanker” my insult! Back off! 😆 Meaning, he had said the same to me. I dont know if he’s trying to appear British with the use of their slang (which I love actually), cause he called me a git too, or if he’s American. Not that it’s important. Just going by his text.I knew we wouldnt be able to contact callie (winner) which is why I said I wish we could. I remembered eBays rules about it. Oh, and blackdesertwind, regardless of what the buyer may or may not think, he cannot prove his paranoia if he thinks it is all one person contacting him- regardless of who he threatens to think it is. Point is, we all know that many of us here contacted him in earnest (and then may have toyed with him after he pulled the trigger), so the eBay “paper trail” would show (IP addys, etc) that way more than one person contacted him. You know you didnt do it more than the average person, so youve nothing to worry about.
Ski, I kept his ended auction in my watch box so I acn access his FB easily. I plan to check it too, but if you find out something before hand as it pertains to this auction, do share!
September 19, 2007 at 7:01 pm #615199I did not know about ebay rules and you couldn’t warn someone about a seller or item. I have warned someone about my experience with a seller on a item they were bidding on with the same seller. She was very nice and appreciated my warning. In fact, I wish there was a way to warn others about at least 2 sellers I have had a bad expirence with. I am attempted to outright post their names here, but don’t know if I would get in trouble and I don’t think they are forum memebers.

🙁 Same here dragonessjade, I did not know or remembered that eBay rule. Sorry if I mislead people to believe you can do this.

Trust me, I’d rather have someone warn me too, but I just didn’t want anyone here to catch backlash off of this since it’s technically against the rules. 🙁 Also, unless someone knows he is out to rip people off, there’s not much we can do. “Being Rude” isn’t enough to warrant interfering the transaction.

Very interesting…I never knew about this rule. How did you come across it?September 20, 2007 at 2:46 pm #615204mimitrek wrote:http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/transaction-interference.html
Very interesting…I never knew about this rule. How did you come across it?I’ve watched a lot of online communities over the years, and there was a huge drama-fest on one of them once about this. In a nutshell, there was a seller, and that person was a real jerk, but they were an honest seller. An ex-friend of that seller was emailing/contacting bidders of the seller’s items to tell them not to bid, the seller was a jerk, etc etc… which, though the seller was rude, the didn’t have bad feedback and were honest in their transactions, which is what eBay looks at of course. After the seller found out what the ex-friend was doing, all hell broke loose- they not only reported the ex-friend to eBay but tried to press slander charges too, since it was effecting their business. (I didn’t hang around to see what all happened after that- I wasn’t involved and was an observer. I do know the ex-friend was banned from eBay, but I have no idea how the charges against that person went)
That’s why I’m so cautious about contacting a bidder- it’s one thing if the seller is known to be dishonest and rip people off… but contacting just because the person is rude is really really asking for trouble if the seller finds out. This is true also if you contact a bidder to let them know that they are ‘paying too much’… really, it is up to the bidder to research a product to see what it is worth to them.
