Okay I have the WORST allergies imaginable, I swear to God. They were bothering me a little bit the past couple days but HOLY CRAP today… I’m seriously about to kill myself (not really, but you know…).
It started with a bad nosebleed that woke me up this morning. And I mean really bad. I think I lost about a pint of blood, because it wouldn’t stop for about five hours. Then came the snot which is still dripping right now. I’ve had kleenex shoved up my nose all day, but all it does is back up and run down my throat so now between the snot and the blood I feel like I might puke.
And the worst part of all this is the ITCHING and the SNEEZING. Oh God somebody please just kill me already.
And it sucks even more because there is literally no allergy medicine that I can take that either won’t send me to the hospital, or won’t work at all. I’ve tried like every prescription med, OTC meds, even AllergyMD. NOTHING helps.
I even had a panic attack before. I’m losing my freaking mind! And my mother doesn’t help AT ALL. She just harps at me to “take something” when she knows damn well that I CAN’T.
I just.. don’t know what to do any more. I can’t take this. I keep thinking, we went out before and got in a car accident, I died and am in hell right now. Because that’s what it feels like. T__T
Yeah… sorry for the rant. I just… had to say something before I explode or whatever. 😥
October 6, 2007 at 1:00 am #492885October 6, 2007 at 1:40 am #623838my allergies are really bad right now too….I sneeze constantly….have snot all over….
I have to use papertowels instead of tissue cause when I blow my nose there’s just way too much goo….
I have a constant headache…and most of the time don’t sleep and if I do I wake up every hour or so because I have to blow my nose…
so I kind of know what you’re going through…
I usually have to use a humidifier with stuff in it…to keep most of the allergies away…but it doesn’t work very often….
and this time of year is horrible…
October 6, 2007 at 1:40 am #623839Ugh… I have to keep changing the kleenex in my nose like every five minutes cause they get completely soaked through. This can’t be normal… 😥
Buh… at least I’m not the only one going through this hell.

EWW
I don’t think so…but then again….it’s happened to me before….except the nose bleed part…one time it was so bad I couldn’t lay down to sleep cause my nose would run so bad…it would run out onto the pillow as soon as I layed down… 🙄
October 6, 2007 at 1:43 am #623841Oh it’s not bleeding any more, that stopped a few hours ago. Now it’s just snot. XD;

sounds like you need to move to somewhere else….LOL
I know in Phoenix my allergies went away…
and in San Francisco….
kind of weird…either really dry warm or moist cool air is good for me….
here…where it can’t ever make up its mind what it wants to do….my allergies go nuts…
October 6, 2007 at 1:56 am #623843But we just moved here last month XD;
Well we came to New Mexico five and a half years ago, but before that we lived in Connecticut and my allergies were even WORSE there if you can believe that. x.x;

wow that’s not good…I would love to go back to that part of the country…but I’m not sure how my allergies would be there….
and yeah I didn’t do good in New Mexico…..too much dust…
October 6, 2007 at 2:02 am #623845May I suggest a neti pot? I used to have horrible allergy and sinus issues (was constantly on medication and would get sinus infections one right after the other for years… 3-4 weeks to get over, 2 weeks later I’d have another one, repeat). Started using a neti pot on a suggestion because meds weren’t really helping anymore and I’ve been essentially free of sinus infections and meds since March 2006 (I occasionally use flonase or nasacort if I’m run down a little and need to stave off a cold). I’ve only had 1 sinus cold (this summer when I forgot to use my neti pot for about 2 weeks and then got myself run down), but I figure that’s a MUCH better track record than I did have going 🙂 It may not get rid of the sinus issues totally (especially if they are allergy related), but it should at least help lessen the severity and frequency of them.
It’s pretty inexpensive too (about $20 for a neti pot – mine is stainless steel) and a container of sea salt every so often from the grocery store. It’s essentially a nasal douche for your nose, more thorough than a nasal spray.
Regardless, feel better soon!
October 6, 2007 at 2:04 am #623846I’ve never heard of one of those…what’s it look like….and where would you get it…
October 6, 2007 at 2:10 am #623847I’ve never heard of it either. O.o I should ask my mom, maybe she knows… of course she’ll just tell me off like she always does. -_-;
October 6, 2007 at 4:25 am #623848Here is a place you can get one.
I just did a quick Yahoo search. There are a bunch of places online. It seems interesting. Hope you feel better soon, and that a neti pot is the solution to your problems, considering it doesn’t involve drugs, it just might.

October 6, 2007 at 6:32 pm #623849Hmm, sounds interesting. Do they have them at Walmart/Walgreens?
Ugh, last night was horrible… the allergies got a little better after midnight, but by the time I was ready to go to bed I was shaking and close to throwing up. x.x I didn’t get to sleep til after 4am, and I’m still really nauseous. I dunno if it’s a cold/flu rather than allergies, or just a panic attack, but… argh. *dies*
October 6, 2007 at 7:14 pm #623850I’ve never seen one at Walmart, but I’ve never looked in a Walgreen’s. I ordered mine from here I believe:

That’s actually the one I have. If you have pretty clean water, you can use tap water (I generally use it because it if it’s clean, clear, and when I feel lazy), but bottled water is preferred. I know with the one above, I use about 4 teaspoons of sea salt in luke warm water. You’ll know if the water is too hot or cold. After a few times, you can tell by your hand. If there isn’t enough salt, the water will feel harsh. Too much and it will burn a little and you will smell salt water for a bit 😆 I use really fine sea salt (it dissolves better). I usually use a little hotter water at first to help dissolve the salt and add cooler water to balance the temperature out, which is easier when you use tap water. You can’t use table salt. There are too many minerals added, like iodine. You also aren’t supposed to use it right after you eat. If you have any left over food bits, you don’t want them getting into your sinuses and causing an infection. I usually use it when I first wake up and am all stuffy and phlegm-y or just before bed. You do have to make sure you give your sinues a minute or two to get all the water out, or you’ll probably end up thinking you have a sinus cold for a few hours while the water drains. I just keep my head tipped over for about 2 minutes and gently blow into a papertowel (tissue doesn’t hold up to water :?) and blow a little bit when I get done and stand up straight. Not too bad, unless you have a dog come over to lick your face while you are bent over 🙄
I have had water get stuck in my ears a little, but that’s when I don’t let the water drain well and it goes away shortly thereafter. My mom does make fun at me when I start hacking and making spitting sounds (I do steps 1 and 2, two having you let some water drain down the back of your throat so you spit out stuff). Step three is where you take water in through your mouth and essentially snort it out your nose. My dad can do that (he doesn’t use a neti pot, but just does that in the shower… similar effect, but no salt water). I can’t with my gag reflex. Helps flush your back sinueses more thoroughly.
Takes a little getting used to at first (right water temp, right amount of salt, getting the right angle to hold and use it, right amount of time to let things drain), but you do get used to it pretty quickly. I think it took me a week (I kept laughing when my mom was offering commentary the first couple of days, which complicated things). You also will probably get a slight nosebleed at first, while you get used to flushing your sinuses, but nothing serious. You can do it as often as you feel necessary and what your nose and sinuses will allow and feels comfortable. Took me about two weeks for my sinuses to really clear (they were just bad and constantly infected). I use it more often when I’m sick (3-4 times a day if really stuffy) or sometimes just every other day when things are really clear, but I try to use it once every day and I take it on the road with me when I travel. It’s actually a form of yoga (jalaneti) and has been in use for over 1000 years.
