And I dont know why people are suggesting larger batches. How is ‘100’ not a large batch? Even if 50 people got 2 each, 50 is a lot of people! 100 is a lot of unicorns!
I’m sorry, I guess my idea wasn’t very good. 100 is a lot, but they sold out so fast. I’m just speaking from the sad point of view of someone who hasn’t been able to get even one yet.

I’m right there with you, Eleu. I don’t have one yet either. 😛
September 5, 2011 at 6:23 pm #855439Don’t feel bad Eleu. It’s not a bad idea, just probably a difficult one. I’d love the same thing if it was possible. ^_^

Another suggestion I like myself. Even if there are 2 collectors in a household, they can at least still each get one in that rare circumstance.

My first reaction to reading this was “ahhhhhhh”. But it makes sense, it’s more fair, more people will be able to participate, and it will help me not spend a bunch of money, so it’s a good idea! Grab bags are fun. but the drama that they bring about sure isn’t.
September 5, 2011 at 9:06 pm #855470Awe…one per customer makes me sad. I like the two per household rule better because I’m sure quite a few people will still end up with two, but whatever Windstone decides, I will stand behind them.

4 things I'm looking for:
1. Mother Meerkat
2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinSeptember 6, 2011 at 12:07 am #855492In view of the current popularity of this item, I agree that reducing the max per customer order to 1 is probably the best solution. IMO changing it to max per household simply wouldn’t be fair to individual collectors. Besides, if someone is determine to cheat, they will cheat no matter what safeguards you put into place. And I remain convinced that, out of all of the GBs that have been sold yet, only a small fraction has probably been obtained in an underhanded way, if any. Lets not deceive ourselves into imagining that absolute fair play would have doubled the number of available items. Only changing the max per customer can do that, and will now apparently be done.
I’d also lean towards no more group photos, just a small sample photo. Plus, it would have the added benefit of creating more surprise and pleasure when pictures the purchases are actually posted.
September 6, 2011 at 1:29 am #8555011 per customer makes me happy, and hopefully it will give those people who have not had a chance to get one yet to grab one 🙂
I am hoping against hope for more Liver Chestnut horses in this batch – and some crazy colors too, like the babies!! 😀

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!September 7, 2011 at 2:42 am #855597If we want to reduce the dibs-calling, multi-thread-posting, general feeding-frenzy behavior around the GB Unis, the solution is simple.
Don’t post the batch photo beforehand.
Seriously, everything got WAY OUT OF HAND the day the batch photo for the 8/30 Unis was posted in the blog.
It makes it easier for the people to pin down what specific piece they’re looking for, but it also leads to a subtle competitive tone where many people are already wanting the same piece before they even know whose door it’s shown up at.
Post a sample photo like the store one, and let there be some surprises! Or post the batch photo a little later so it doesn’t get people foaming at the mouth quite so soon. 😉
It just. Makes. Sense.
I remember that this is exactly how it was done with the first batch or two of the GB Youngs and the whole affair seemed a lot more fun and friendly, rather than just turning into one giant ebay auction.
September 7, 2011 at 3:06 am #855600I agree with that. *nods*

Dreamscape, Orion, Poison Dart, Fireberry, Spangler + Tigerberry DragonsSeptember 7, 2011 at 3:08 am #855601I’d have to agree with you Chris. While its fun to see them all beforehand, I think there is some negativity that stems from it. And one person makes a “ooo I want *THAT* one!” post/thread and IDK about everyone else, but I feel guilty when I post the next “Oh, yeah, Im looking for the same *THAT* one as the other person” type thing. Then it comes down to who gets it-and sometimes thats dependend on who has more money-and as Ive found out, everyone will be your friend until there’s money involved.
So, a good idea would be to post that they are coming (or not post at all, have it be a total surprise-they wont sell out as fast if the whole community isnt stalking the store all day) and put up a sample store picture-or even an outline of a young or baby unicorn with a question mark inside-you get one, and if you dont like it, so far, history has shown that there will be no shortage of people who LOVE what you dont like-so you trade or sell it and hope for something better 🙂
September 7, 2011 at 7:31 am #855618It seems like that’s exactly why Melody made the GB Unis in the first place, Wolfen, and it’s lots of fun to trade. Question Mark Uni made me think of some kind of Riddler-corn. That would make a pretty wild one for the next batch!
I still love seeing the whole crowd together. Maybe the Graduating Unicorn Class photo can be posted after they’ve sold instead of before.
Then people who are looking for specific pieces can still have a reference while doing trades and sales, but there’s still the surprise and fun of not knowing exactly what you’re going to get.
I guess the way I see it is, you have an equal chance of getting that special Uni you’re after when you buy from the store, whether or not you knew it existed beforehand and got really excited about it. And if there wasn’t a letdown of “Oh, I didn’t get the one I wanted,” then you might find yourself more open to appreciate the one that did find its way to you. Which is exactly why I love Circadian so much. 😉
Just musings I guess. Melatonin is kicking in. (Have any of you TRIED this? It’s wonderful. 😀 )
September 7, 2011 at 2:21 pm #855626I like the idea of a baby or young unicorn with a question mark for the grab bags.
