How did you all make such nice avatars? I had to reduce the quality of my pic so much to get it to work.
I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~

Engaged to a WeaselFebruary 23, 2008 at 3:34 am #669148It took me a while searching through pictures to find one that looked good this small. It has to be a high resolution picture in order to hold up against the 80×80 restriction.
I used Photoshop to crop and size mine.February 23, 2008 at 3:36 am #669149I love your siggie!!!! 😆 😆 I could put a quote on your pic if you want. I just went searching, I googled avatars til I found something I liked. 🙂
February 23, 2008 at 3:38 am #669150February 23, 2008 at 3:44 am #669151I just used photoshop to crop out a bit of a photo of one of my parrots. I did my siggy with photoshop as well. -hugs tablet- Although I ‘spose I should probably do something with Windstones on it so I blend in better.
February 23, 2008 at 3:45 am #669152I like individuality, there’s nothing saying you have to have a windstone siggie. 😀
February 23, 2008 at 4:08 am #669153I used photoshop and saved mine as a gif.
February 23, 2008 at 4:23 am #669154I just shrunk mine down in photoshop….it took some experimenting…but I got it…
February 23, 2008 at 5:13 am #669155Whippetluv’s method below is how I shrink my images in Photoshop.
whippetluv wrote:Lokie wrote:Whippetluv, how do you resize pictures to make them able to be used for avatars? ….. I can alter the pixels and size of the pictures in Photoshop, but they don’t look clear. How do you do it exactly if you don’t mind me asking?
Not at all. Go to “save for web” then click on the “image size” and put in the size you want…80 x 80 for avatars. Make sure it is set for jpeg or gif and maximum.
Cool avatar, BPB 🙂
February 23, 2008 at 5:16 am #669156I just go to Edit -> Transform -> Scale, then hold down shift and click and drag the corner to resize. Mine didn’t resize to exactly 80×80, so I just moved it around until the 80×80 looked nice. 🙂

Engaged to a WeaselFebruary 23, 2008 at 7:40 am #669158my problem isn’t getting it small enough. It’s that when I save it as a gif it comes out, bleh. And yet thats the only way I can get it to meet the 8kb limit.

Engaged to a WeaselFebruary 23, 2008 at 8:34 am #669159I dunno… Someone did mine for me. I have also sent pics to forum folks and they have edited them for me.

Same here! This forum is the very first one I’ve been on, so I had to get the 101 course from my husband, including learning what an avatar was… he sized it for me.
