Oh wow– that ivory sun dragon is GORGEOUS! I love it. Shoot, if I didn’t need the money so badly, I’d offer to trade my red fire OW for it instead of selling him!
I wish they would do an LP run of these (I suppose horns are an issue) because it really is beautiful!
May 2, 2012 at 2:53 pm #879544May 2, 2012 at 2:56 pm #879545That’s the same way I think Pam. I have a method to the price I always put in (but I won’t divuldge it just cause it’s my OCD secret) but yes, I always put in my max in the last few seconds. SOMETIMES I will put in a mediocre bid in the begining of an auction JUST in case an auction gets hacked I MIGHT get a second chance offer (only because once I blew an auction off cause it went to high for me, but if I had only bid when I was thinking of it I would have won because the auction was hacked *cough Burgundy Gold OW cough* but that’s again just me and my OCD with a combination of wishful thinking! ^_^
Totally agree with the max bid at the very end. Of course, it does tend to raise the price suddenly if two of us are after the same piece (Copper Sunset Spectral maybe?), so bidding only what you are willing to pay is very important! The only times I bid before the end of an auction are if I find the piece interesting but don’t care if I lose to a higher bidder, and/or I am afraid that the seller will pull the auction if nobody has bid.
Yea, that Copper Sunset was a good example of what happens when two snipers go for something ^_^ I was excited at the thought it may sell for a lot less then my max bid, but when you bid, it did bump it up quite a bit. To be honest though, my max bid was about $70 higher then your bid, so it wasn’t THAT close, but yea, pretty close.
When I tried to snipe some of the Poads Hannah won, it was the same thing, but reversed. My bid actually never even made it though because she must have placed her bid like, milliseconds before mine, because when I submitted my bids I would get the “sorry, you have been outbid by another bidder, please insert XXX amount or higher” but when you wait to snipe at the last second, you’re cooked if you don’t have the high bid. That’s the risk snipers take. However, if you indeed put in your max you were willing to pay and lost, you can’t then be TOO dissappointed. Yes, sad you lost and you wanna punch a hole through your screen sometimes right after that “sorry, you lost” message appears, but not too mad since it was more then what you were willing to spend in the first place. Does that make sense? Well, that’s how I think of it. Plus, i think of the money I saved to spend on the next thing I want… cause there are ALWAYS more pretties lined up ^_^ Sometimes, I am happy when I loose later because something much nicer comes along I wouldn’t have been able to bid on if I didn’t loose a previous auction.

Please put the color scheme Blueberry Ice on a dragon? This might be the kind of ‘blue contrast’ scheme we’ve been squeaking for!
May 2, 2012 at 3:03 pm #879547Man, you guys are crazy… that oriental is awful x.x LOL!

Yes – sniping is definitely a gamble with no chance to bid again. However, as you say, there will always something else pretty to try for.
I actually set my snipe on the Copper Sunset Spectral about $100 higher when I first saw him, and then reduced it when I decided I didn’t like him THAT much! Another advantage of snipes over making a bid early in the auction – you can change your mind!May 3, 2012 at 12:56 am #879579Man, you guys are crazy… that oriental is awful x.x LOL!

See, that one of the very few orientals I like!
Edited to add: And I just read what process was used to do this; it seems easy compared to a regular paint job. I would go for a family in that scheme!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmMay 3, 2012 at 11:36 am #879624I am going to comment on this just this once. Sometimes I will put my maximum I am willing to pay right at the beggining of the auction. I personally don’t like to snipe because at the end it will make me nervious, angiety will kick in and my heart will actually act up. For this reason I don’t watch at the end.
I actually bid 2 auctions that got hacked into. One that I won the Graphite because of the way I bid. The other was a Sun Dragon I put a 2000.00 bid on him watched this auction and all of a sudden he was gone. I waited for him to be relisted. That never happened. Seams a forum member here figured out what happened and told Windstone that she was the highest bidder on him at that time. She wasn’t she could not have been. She never got over my bid. NEVER. But because I did not find this out till later she got him! I will never forget that. I actually found this out threw another forum member here. The only Sun ever done with Silver horns. Yes I wanted him very badly. But I never brought this up till now. The member is no longer active here. At the time she was my friend so I thought. Good friend huh?

I totally agree–love him. Maybe we could squeek Melody for ivory sun dragons. This piece is something that really caught my eye–something that hasn’t happened in a long time. Can’t afford him at the current bids but could probably swing it if he were a store piece.
May 4, 2012 at 3:20 pm #879729I think I’m in the minority, but I do not like the ivory scheme at all. I do, however, absolutely LOVE that “Black Sunset” coloring on the Kyrins. I squeak for dragons in this color!!!!
May 4, 2012 at 4:07 pm #879730I’m very glad that the auctions don’t get extended for a little more time when a bid is placed. I’m one of those people that get a rush from bidding, if there’s more time I’ll keep bidding. Then at the end I’ll go “Wait! I bid WHAT?”, LOL. I bid my max amount when there is a certain amount of seconds left (my lucky number, I’m a little OCD too!). If I get outbid then I don’t have a chance to bid more than I can afford. If I bid my max at the beginning and get outbid, I WILL bid more than I wanted (or have) to pay. I don’t do it to snipe, I do it to keep control of my spending! XD

…kiwi lap….!
And those poads were some of the prettiest of the batch. It was so hard to keep my wallet in my purse over a couple of them.
^_^; Yeah.. my wallet hurts.
I’m probably going to show my collection of Poads at some point but I’m a little nervous about it.. I have kind of become the crazy Poad lady because of this last batch, and although I can certainly account for how I got (bought, traded) every one of them, I still fear becoming part of someone’s hit list XD
Hehe it was you and dragOn that I was bidding against for the Poads…..I was a tryin but ya kicked my butt hehe π I loved those and I’m so glad ya got them. YEAH !!!!! Congrats π if you don’t wanna post pics can ya send me pics so I’d can drool over your beauties please. You will get NO hit list nasties from me LOL just poad loving humorous envy as I drool over you photos! π
We both lost to Hannah Branzy, she kicked our butts ^_^ but at least I saved the money by loosing to get a cool Spectral that should be here any day now. I hope to see some photos too Hannah, I envy your Young Poad collection <3
Yup Drag0n she sure did kick our butts hehehe and OH my does she have some beauties in her collection I must say!! Did you see the pics she posted. Amazing beauties. I am glad they went to a good home and “It’s OK Hannah…I will only limp for a little bit with butt whooping you rained down!!! HEHEHE π
May 4, 2012 at 8:55 pm #879745I have had to remove the auction for the Blue Ice Hatching Emperor. This morning, I noticed green stains and streaks coming through his paint. The colored water that he was dipped in prior to painting has begun to bleed through his paint and turn green. His sister, the Hatching Empress, has also been badly effected. π
