Donno. Maybe. I don’t have that great of a memory either haha.
July 3, 2007 at 8:46 pm #593939You do very nice work! I like the dappled gray.

White over grey, grey over white, avoidance? I’m so close to just saying screw it and getting an airbrush w/ my credit card, seeing your paintjobs isn’t helping my will power!! 😆
haha.
It’s taken me 3 years to do decent dapple greys. I paint about 15 a month, which has spured things along a lot.
I do 8 layers, starting on white. This uni didn’t get 8, I think she only got 5. My darker ones, like this, get about 8 layers. Takes me about 3 hours to do a horse like that.
Hubby is actually wanting me to upgrade my airbrush again. Right now I use an Eclipse($85ish) and an HP-C ($125-150). I have my eye on one of the newer ones that are about $300, but I gotta get my money back out of the horses I bought last week before I can do anything fun like that 😕
Hey, that’s a Peter Stone Windswept Arabian! I collect those. Actually…. I used to. I’m selling them all to fund my Windstones. Did you paint that model yourself? Very nice subtle natural looking dappling on that one. I like your unicorns too. I love the dappled gray one… great work! 😀
July 4, 2007 at 1:33 am #593941Yup, I painted that one the other night. I ordered in a bunch of those Constantine horses, and a lot of them arrived scratched, so I have to repaint them all to get my money back(you know how Peter Stone is…..). They were a bad gamble. I’m probably not carrying Stone horses anymore.
I hear you on selling them to fund the Windstones. I’m hoping this guy will cover my curls and coil order when he sells 😀

Oh Lord, yes I know! Those things are way too expensive. That’s another reason I gave up the model horse hobby. I can’t afford them anymore! I wanted to go to Equlilocity this year, but I’ll max out my credit card for sure… and my husband will strangle me! That sucks about the Constantine models though. I’m surprised a bunch came in scratched like that. Can’t they take them back if damaged goods?
Your paint jobs are nice though, and I think you’ll be able to sell them to cover you on the dragons you bought. You’ll probably get enough to buy another one too! The model in the pic looks good enough to be LSQ in my opinion. Collectors love those dappled ones! 😉

Peter Stone is “odd” about his return policy. I guess. I donno. Maybe my standards are too high. I paid out the nose to buy those horses, paid the shipping, would have to pay the shipping to ship them back, and wait for 2 months til they got around to fixing them. I just figure, if dealers have to pay so much per horse plus shipping, they ought to arrive without scratches.
The horse shown I just finished tonight. I hope he sells quick. I marked him at $175, that would cover his cost, and one dragon. So here’s hoping. He is totally LSQ, I hope someone does buy him and show him. Most of my customs go overseas.
I was going to go to BF and Equlicity this year, but hubby and I decided, rather than do that this year, I’m goign to take a whole week off of painting next year, and go down for NAN, BF, and Equ. 7 days of model horses. Man. I’ll be so broke, and so horsed out. It’ll be great.
July 4, 2007 at 5:46 am #593944That pinto does not look bad at all. I really like the face and color of the dapple. 🙂
July 4, 2007 at 8:53 am #593945I don’t think the pinto looks bad either! I actually really like the overspray…gives it a very soft look…like a fuzzy foal, maybe! ^_^ I think it’s really really cute! I think you should finish it. and send it to me. yup.

-J R R TolkienJuly 4, 2007 at 5:28 pm #593946Good luck with your sells! I’m sure you’ll do great. 😀 Dappling doesn’t look like a painting skill that is easy to master.

You should have seen my first ones 😯
I remember this one horse, I painted him grey, then painted white spots overtop 😕 Scarey part is, the gal has had that horse for…3 years now? it NAN’d for her a lot. I remember him, he was awful. haha
July 4, 2007 at 8:30 pm #593948Maybe he placed in a decorator class! 😆

Nope, apparently it was a normal class and everyhting. Must be small shows. He was scary. Cute, but scarey..

Well, let me know if you plan to sell this guy otherwise I’ll probably try to commmision you for one later down the road. I really like how you did this unicorn. Thanks!
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

Yup. She’ll be $85 when she’s done. I think. I donno. Best offer. Will trade for the new coil 😀
July 6, 2007 at 2:43 am #593952I just wanted to note, the dapple grey is “sold”, I just have to take some finished pix and make sure the new owner is sure she wants her.
However, I have a couple more I’ll be doing in various greys, so no worries 😀
