So you like to collect glass. Do you like to collect one form of glass more over the other? like paperweights more than dishes or vases? I know you like marbles too. What are your favorite glass artists/companies?

I love all kinds of glass, really. I love Fenton, Dugan, Blenko, Indiana, Imperial…just about all of them! I have vintage as well as modern pieces. I collect carnival, opalescent, amberina, slag, desert green..I have dishes, bowls, plates, perfume bottles, figurines, marbles, etc. Three of my favorite marble artists are Eddie Seese, Geoffrey Beetem and Shipwrecked. Here’s a few pix, if you care to look.

          Fenton Mulberry

          various pieces

One of my most prized pieces: a Satava jellyfish. That is not a picture of my actual piece…mine is too hard to photograph, as you can see in this picture.

I adore the jellyfish! Very cool.

I have a friend who collects sea glass but I gather that is a whole different obsession!

I like the mulberry and I have seen those jellyfish before but dang, they can get expensive!! Nice collection 🙂

I love the Desert Green and the jelly fish!! What a cool collection!! 8)

I would think cats and glassware would not necessarily be a good combination. How you keep things from getting broken?

Sea glass is really cool, ddvm. Is she from NJ and does she find much any more? I haven’t found a piece in years.

Those jellyfish are stupid expensive. That’s why I’ll only have one and the smallest one they make at that! 😆

To be honest, my husband has broken as much as all 10 cats put together and I’ve broken a couple of pieces myself. 😮 I don’t get mad about it. I keep the least expensive pieces out to enjoy and if they get broken, oh well. I even have a few carnival glass plates and serving bowls that we use at times. I lose about two pieces a year, so that isn’t a bad average.

My friend Sue is originally from Westchester, NY but she currently lives in Hawaii! But she has found pieces in MD and MA as well – her husband is in the Navy so they get around. A few years ago when I visited her we went to Kauai for the day. There is a beach there called Glass Beach by the locals. Something about the currents and the fact they used to push cars into the ocean 😮 resulted in a beach that has a ton of sea glass. We found bags of nice pieces. I swear Sue had an orgasm at one point! I ended up giving the pieces I found to a client who started a non-profit to help people who need an organ transplant. She had someone make up the better pieces as jewelry and sold them to support the non-profit. Sue has her collection in different clear vases – they are very cool!

I keep looking at the jellyfish – too cool!

Oops!!! I bet your husband steers clear of the glass now. 👿

If you’re like me (and I know you are 😉 ), you must be running out of display room. Any plans to add more shelves?

You have a Satava jellyfish! OOoooooooooooohOO! I’ve been oogling those for a few years. Someday one will end up on the top of my ‘to buy’ list. Someday…maybe just a small one….

I love your glass collection. We mostly have old Fenton milk glass and some depression glass around the house (Mom’s, mostly inherited from Grandma), plus the Fenton and odd things I’ve picked up. Mulberry is a very pretty color. I’m a bit more partial to the Mulberry that they leave some azure blue around the base and blend to the mulberry purple color. I’ve never seen or heard of Blenko before. I have to say I LOVE that Desert Green color combo! Very pleasing to look at. 🙂

Yeah, I’ve been curious (since Starbreeze brought shelving up), did your husband make the glass doors for the shelving units yet, lamortefille? It’s something I’ve wanted to do for some of my own shelving units, but that idea has fallen to the wayside.

And I’ve also been really curious how everyone makes room/shelve space for their collections. I feel so guilty if my stuff doesn’t get a chance to be displayed properly (not just my Windstone). 😳

That is some lovely glass! I love some of the colors.

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

Beautiful, especially the jellyfish. Those jellyfish are expensive, but I think they’re worth it. They’re fascinating.

You have a very impressive glass collection! The jellyfish is cool. I’ve seen those before, but never really checked to see how much they run. To be honest, they are kinda creepy to me. Please don’t throw things at me for saying that!

I’m a paperweight nut, but also enjoy sculpture too. Some of my favorite artists/companies are Sumo, Epiphany, and Byron Sutherland. Byron Sutherland makes purdy glass pumpkins!

Also, I hope this isn’t a stupid question. This is something I’ve wondered about, but always forgot to research online. Is seaglass naturally formed somehow in the ocean, or is it just actual pieces of glass that got into the ocean and altered in shape and color by the ocean currents? It is pretty looking.

That beach sounds very cool! Your friend sounds like me when I visited Captiva Island, FL. I love to collect shells and their beach is just covered with them. You don’t know where to look first! I bet the vases look beautiful filled with sea glass. 😀
