I’m sure some of you may have seen this pic already. I just got it forwarded to me today by my Aunt. I just wanted to post it though for those that may have not yet seen it. I feel bad for the fox… but this is an amazing picture! A hunter in Montana took it.

It’s a Golden Eagle attacking a fox. The Magpie is like… “I’m getting the hell outta here!”

Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I hope the poor fox got away. But then I hate to see any animals hurt…

Wonder what the fox was munching on there, before he became the prey.

Golden Eagles are amazing birds. If you’re a lucky enough falconer to have a license to keep one, you can hunt prey as big as a whitetail deer with one!

That’s an award-winning picture there! golden eagles are huge. I have to make sure that if I come back as an animal in my next life, I’m not on their dinner list. 😆

My most wanted list: Peacock kitty wizard, carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties

The college I went to (Auburn Univeristy) kept golden eagles and flew them at events (like home football games). If you watched the opening ceremonies of the Salt Lake City Olympics then you saw the one that just retired a few years ago, War Eagle VI, also known as “Tiger”. She was replaced by a young bald eagle called “Nova”.

If you want to see how stunning golden eagles are against large prey, you’ll find these videos interesting.

Warning! May be a bit graphic- only watch if you don’t mind seeing the ‘circle of life’ in action. Everything has to eat!

Nice footage! I’ve gotten to hold a golden, last summer while I was volunteering at the local raptor rehab. They are massive birds. I’m hoping to volunteer again this year. Once I get my license I’ll be happy to just hunt bunnies and bushytails with a Harris, though.
