The Standing Hippogriff Colt in Ancient Steel

These “rescue” Standing Hippogriff Colts are pieces that had slight casting defects. Normally we would have destroyed these, but we have devised a way to make use of otherwise perfectly good pieces by painting them silver and blue with a textured “distressed antique” finish that enhances the surface flaws with “rust” and makes them look like beautiful Ancient Steel.  They have teal glass eyes. These hippogriffs vary slightly in texture and color because every one of these is an individual. They are unsigned limited production.  They are about 4 1/8″ tall and 3 3/4″ long.

Hippogriffs are fantasy creatures that are a cross between a griffin and a horse which makes them a mash-up of an eagle and a lion and a horse, so these young hippogriffs have some characteristics of each animal. These have an eagle’s wings and beak, a lion’s front paws, and a horse’s hind end, mane, and ears.
