The longer the books are, the less detail they can keep due to time.

Have to agree there! I have all the books and in the bookcase they give me a chuckle. Each one they come out with looks to be twice the size as the one before it 😆

They do leave out some cool details but I can live with it. But I always suggest reading the books… just do it!

I have a doctors appointment on Monday (and it’s a drive to get there so I’ll go up to family who live there on Sunday). We’ll wind up seeing the movie either Sunday or Monday. Looking forward to it… and thanks for not adding spoilers here! Still getting use to the fact that ppl respect each other on this message board (as compared to others, that is).

It would be very helpful for my Wish List database (see Flea Market forum) Im keeping for those who enter, if anyone could either post the photos of, or links to the following pieces:

    Black Mother Griffin
    Black Griffin Chicks
    Peacock Kinglet
    White Hatching Emperor
    OW Autumn Leaf
    Any colored SK
    Large Blue Wizard
    Small White Wizard
    Sitting Cat (not the Siamese)
    Tabby Cat (not the Siamese)
    Gold Fledgie
    Ruby Spectral (sitting)
Emerald Coiled Mother with gold egg
    Jade Scratcher
    Peacock Proto OW
BG Coiled Mother with gold egg
    Light Rainbow peacock Oriental

And just a quick question on forum jargon… when ppl speak of Royal Hatchers, do they mean the Hatching Emperor and Empress?

    Thank you!

I am interested in getting one, but wouldn’t mind bidding against people on eBay for it. Maybe Ski or somebody has the list of average selling prices for them? There is one in the eBay stores for $249.99 that hasn’t been jumped on, so I guess that price is too high (for now?). The other problem is all of the beautiful stuff Melody is putting up. I think retireds are taking a back burner to the LEs and LPs. Just my 2¢.

Yea, I know. Timing just hasnt been on my side lately. I know about that one on eBay and wouldnt expect a price like that for him (unless anyone is feeling particularly giddy 😉 )

He may go right to eBay anyway because one of the pieces I had sold here, while I got what I asked, it sold for so much more on eBay (even after fees, etc). But she has a good home, so…

Argh! I wish I could do the Black Griffin- but I just cant. 😥 I shouldnt have sold mine when I did. I miss him too much.

    Good luck with the sale!

in reply to: "RED MARBLES"- great story I got as an email #599477

This was one of those wonderful & touching FWs that you get emailed. Maybe some of you have already received it but I thought I’d pass it on here for those who never read it before. Enjoy!

    RED MARBLES

I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprizing a basket of freshly picked green peas. I paid for my potatoes; but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn’t help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

‘Hello, Barry, how are you today?’.

‘H’lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus’ admirin’ them peas. They sure look good.’.

‘They are good, Barry. How’s your Ma?’.

    ‘Fine. Gittin’ stronger alla’ time.’.

‘Good. Anything I can help you with?’.

‘No, Sir. Jus’ admirin’ them peas.’.

‘Would you like to take some home?’, asked Mr. Miller.

‘No, Sir. Got nuthin’ to pay for ’em with.’.

‘Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?’.

‘All I got’s my prize marble here.’.

‘Is that right? Let me see it.’, said Miller.

    ‘Here ’tis. She’s a dandy.’.

‘I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of
go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?’, the store owner
    asked.

    ‘Not zackley; but almost.’.

‘Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this
way, let me look at that red marble.’, Mr. Miller told the boy.

    ‘Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.’.

Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, ‘There are two other boys like him in our community. All three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn’t like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.’.

I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado; but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.

Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary, we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could. Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts…all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband’s casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes. Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband’s bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.

‘Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about.
They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim ‘traded’ them.
Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or
size….they came to pay their debt.’.

‘We’ve never had a great deal of the wealth of this world;’, she
confided, ‘but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in
    Idaho .’.

With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.

The Moral : We will not be remembered by our words; but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take; but by the moments that take our breath. Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles. A fresh pot of coffee you didn’t make yourself. An unexpected phone call from an old friend. Green stoplights on your way to work. The fastest line at the grocery store. A good sing-along song on the radio. Your keys found right where you left them.

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

Thanks luv! Yep, he was a sweetie super smeller! 😆 Im glad it all worked out and that he now has another happy home. But he has a jealous streak in him… so put a slumber mask on him when youre painting your other beauties or else he might have an identity crisis.

Thanks too for your advice on cleaning. I printed it out for future reference. I was just so spooked by the wolf.

Enjoy in great health, doll <3

Does anyone know then, if this allegedly Jade but apparently Emerald colored Oriental Sun Dragon (no pix right now) would be wanted by anyone here (other than someone listed in this thread)?

What do you think I could get for it on eBay? I ask because Im watching 1 of the pieces I use to have and sold here, go for so much more on eBay! Not that Im complaining but you get nervous when youre buried under piles of medical bills and fear that I will wind up leaving them to my family when my time comes.

Edited: because Im having a typing moment tonight! Fingers just aint workin’

So tho the Astral link is called Jade, what do others consider it?

That’s most definitely Emerald. All of the “Jade” Orientals on Astral Castle are actually Emerald-colored.

So would that make my “Jade” Sun Dragon (which is what he was sold under), less valuable and desired?

in reply to: PUT YOUR "WISH LIST" IN HERE #596331

See, now in that photo I can see the difference. But according to Astral Castle, they are showing me a photo of the Oriental Sun Dragon in JADE (532 J)
http://www.astralcastle.com/windstone/wsframe.htm (OK, well it’s a link to Astral Castle; I cant get it to link directly to the piece under discussion but look up the Oriental Sun Dragon in Jade)

It looks lighter than the one posted in comparison here. They also didnt seem to sell an emerald sun dragon (I dont see it listed on Astral Castle).

So tho the Astral link is called Jade, what do others consider it?

Laphon yes, I did get your emails and thank you!

If anyone had to describe (on sight) the difference between a Jade piece and emerald piece (esp. in the Orientals & larger dragons), how would YOU go about telling the difference? Any hints would help

Just to clarify…I don’t need a Jade Coiled or a Jade Oriental. I already have those. I need other pieces in Jade. I do want a Jade Scratcher. I told you about my signature being Jade so you could see what it looks like, but I don’t need one.

The Gothic Unicorn is the one that looks more like a goat than a horse. Sometimes it’s really white, and sometimes it’s more of a cream color. I don’t care which one — I just want one. 😀

Thanks for keeping your eyes open for me. I appreciate it.
Cool. I do have you written down as wanting Jade pieces except Oriental Dragon, Coiled Male, but she specifically wants Jade Scratcher.

I knew which Gothic Unicorn you were talking about (goat like- I just said laying down I think). I was thinking from your post of “any color”, that he was in black or other colors other then white that I really needed to watch for. If he’s just white, then whatever shade, you just want that piece.

But thanks for any clarification… thats always good!

PT, I do have a picture of the odd-eyed kitty. I just do not have it hosted anywhere. (Which is why I have never posted pics of my collection.) Is there an email where I can send it?

Yea… what happens when you hit the email link at the bottom of any of my posts? Im use to hitting the PM button and dont know what happens when someone hits the email button!

If it doesnt work, PM me and we’ll go from there.
