Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
Merry Christmas !
Thank you everyone, glad you’re enjoying the pics. Most of these shots have been just luck, of course, being in the right place right time sort of thing.
The bobcats I had more opportunity, since they were hanging around my backyard for a few days. Actually, I think Momma has sort of killed my orange tree, she was using it as a scratching post :x. Unfortunately, since it was summer and over 100* F that meant they pretty much stayed under the tree where it was darker and cooler, and I’m inside the house over 40 ft away without a good telephoto lens.
Yup, Momma is a little hard to make out, you can just make out the edge of an ear behind the kitten face you can see. Most of her head is blocked by that one annoying leaf, just a little bit of cheek showing over her baby’s back.
just before sunset this evening, foothills of the nearby mountains
I could cry…I had such hopes but had to be realistic …
I still have and occasionally use my Olympus OM2000 film camera, as I still prefer film a lot of times – plus it’s a fully manual SLR.
I did say occasionally, meaning, it’s had a film in it since this summer, waiting to be developed. I finally did today, keeping my fingers crossed that the first few pictures would turn out…
Out of about seven photos this is the best I can do with all the post-production I know how to do in GIMP, it’s only about a fifth of the original, taken through a window screen, in dark shadows underneath my orange tree…

You can just make out the other two, the dark backs of their ears, not sure if they were nursing or just snoozing. Momma is of course flat out…
🙂 Glad to read that you’ll still be here, BDW.
ooh, so lucky Laphon, that’s one beautiful dragon. I think the pink or green eyes go best 😉
thanks for the comments, everyone.
As far as the talent, I still say, can’t compare. BDW’s photos, for instance. I think a lot of them would sell as calendars, prints, or greeting cards – some of those winter photos that she just posted would make some wonderful Holiday cards. There are a lot of wonderful pictures in the Photography corner thread, and then there were the photo contests, and elsewhere in the forums – there are a lot of talented people here.
I admit I sometimes get a good shot, I do like the first one (wish it was more in focus) heh, not your typical Arizona shot, everyone expects it to be cactus everywhere. They don’t realize that the life/climate zones of AZ are the equivalent of driving from Mexico to Canada. We’ve even got the largest Ponderosa pine forest in the US, I think 😀
I’m so sorry to read this, BDW. I have no idea what happened, but I hope that you do decide to return. I can understand needing to take a break, but please know that a lot of people here really care about you and will miss you very much.
I’m rarely here as I just don’t have time, so I don’t really “know” people like others do, but you seem to be a warm caring person. I have always enjoyed your photos – they give me inspiration to try to take photos that are even half as lovely as yours.
why do the nice people always leave…
I really enjoy looking at your photos, BDW. Beautiful scenes and a bit of inspiration, too.
best I could do with zoom and crops, etc
great to get out and see these critters 🙂
I don’t use the digital zoom on my camera, quality isn’t that great – and I was in a running vehicle so not perfectly still
I came around a bend in the road, and saw movement…
I know I can’t compare with the talent on here, just sharing a few shots I took today. Thought somebody might think they’re interesting.
I went for a drive out on some local backroads – we had some wintry type weather the last couple days (winter for Arizona) Snow in the mountains, cold and rainy in the valleys. Since I work retail, in a small fully enclosed room, I head for the outdoors when I can – I need the air…
