            Thanks Goldragon. I can only hope to find another. With my luck, it’ll be around Christmas when every yahoo comes out of the woodwork with Windstones, and then the other yahoos that come out to buy Windstones will make it impossible for me

                Oooh, yeah… especially if maybe they could be slightly different than the other browns, kinda like that irridescent blue/purple you had on the old green. (But not as a special 10 on ebay of neat limited stuff; I can’t do many of those) I’m not asking for much, really 😆

                    I dunno how the post office will respond. I don’t even know what I’m doing. I don’t expect anything but BS from them. But I’ll do what he asked in the email. I’ll tell them what happened and bring pics. Regardless of what they say, I’m gonna ship the thing back to this woman in CA, and give this guy the tracking #. Then we’ll see.

                    I’ll keep people posted. I hope he’s as honest as he seems nice. I really don’t handle this kind of stress well….

                      The thing is, I have no idea who it actually belonged to. It was shipped to me from Louisiana, but I’m returning it to California. NO clue what’s going on there.

                      The box wasn’t damaged at all. From how he was positioned when I opened it, wings were up. The box is only 2 inches deeper than the emperor is wide from chest to rear of wings. It’s fairly clear to me that something heavy was plopped down on him, snapping the wings and neck, and all hell broke loose from there. With barely more than a handful of newspaper, nothing stopped the box from squishing 2 inches.

                      It is a shame I have to send him back, but I did ask if we could work it out for me to keep the pieces, and he said he must have it returned. If he holds true to what he said, he’ll refund the money himself as soon as I give him a tracking #. If not, I’ll figure out who else to make a claim through. I used a credit card via paypal. I’ve never had to file a dispute, and I hope I don’t have to start here.

                      I will let him know that the pieces may be desired by others. If he has any control, he may be willing to try. But if I’m sending it back to the dummy who packed it, we’re probably S.O.L.

                      And thanks, Pip, for the picture. Yours is very pretty. Lucky you to have him all this time! I don’t recall if I was aware of Windstones prior to the early 90s, but I was too young to afford ’em anyway.

                              Thanks for the support and suggestions, folks. I appreciate it, really.

                              I contacted the seller. We’re going through postal insurance, I guess. I’ve never done it before, so it’ll be a learning experience. Yay 😕

                              Apparently I bought from a broker, and not from the owner directly. That may be a good thing in this case (makes it harder to hate him). Ignoring the fact that he didn’t pack the dragon himself, or even saw how it was packed, and yet still promised it’d be packed well… the guy’s quite nice, and very willing to please. I’ve got to send him back (very unfortunate), but I’ll get a FULL refund, including return shipping. I want to scream, but *shrug* I guess at least my CC won’t scream as loudly. Here’s the letter he sent me:

                              Dear Maebnus3,

                              First I am extraordinarily disappointed in this matter. The owner herself packaged the dragon and I am sure you cannot believe she did not go to what she thought were extraordinary lengths to protect the shipment. Of course your money will be promptly refunded.

                              However, one of the requirements of our shipping and handling was the purchase of insurance. In order to put that claim in for the destruction of this piece we require that you return the complete package, with the broken pieces in place if at all possible. Failing that then please send your photos of the damage in an email to me. That would be greatly appreciated.

                              Until the matter is settled with the USPS then it will not be possible to dispose of the pieces as we will need them for the claim. Once again, I am extremely sorry and extend my deepest regrets. I know that you were looking forward to receiving this beautiful piece and it is a shame and a crime for it to have been destroyed… I am personally saddened at the destruction of what I have come to admire as a true work of art.

                              Please, take the items to the postal service, along with print outs of your pictures and please notify them that you received the item broken and that the label indicates the item is insured.

                              We are taking the issue to the postal service on our end based upon your notification. Once you have reported it and provided the USPS with your photos, please ship the items to:

                              [some lady in CA]

                              Once this has been done, please notify me of the tracking number of the shipment and I will credit your funds back to your paypal account, including any shipping costs associated with this purchase, including the return costs…

                              I can think of nothing else I can do to make this good for you and once again, I apologize for this loss…

                              I’m gonna print pics for the post office, a set to put in the box, and I’m emailing them to him too.

                              And keshete, don’t worry. I’m sure yours will be safe and sound :wink:. I’ve got 2 emperors already. Both obtained different ways, but they made it to Nebraska just fine either way.

                                I saw that too. I completely agree. Even from a distance, he looks too much like my baby. So either he’s rainbow, or he’s got one hell of a cold (pink nose).
