If you paid for this disaster by paypal and you don’t get a response from the seller, I urge you to file a dispute with paypal and get them to investigate the claim. They have been amazingly helpful to me when I have gotten smushed up Windstones ( which are really heartbreakers!!) (I got a large peacock wizard wrapped in a teeshirt (!) and 4 small pieces of hard styrofoam in a little box. It also had the staff and arm broken off from top to base, the small dragon broken off and lots of chips. The seller insisted I put in an insurance claim at the PO because it was insured, the PO just laughed at me and said it was not their fault it was so badly packed. So I filed a dispute and then a claim because the seller wanted to fight with me, the PO, ebay and paypal. Paypal took him on and I won the dispute, so PP paid the first $200 and then pulled the rest out of his account. I have filed at least 8 very legitimate disputes and claims and paypal has come through every time. Some times the seller wants the piece back and then if I want it a lot, I negotiate a reduced refund or the cost of the repairs with them and they usually agree because they don’t want the broken piece back. Often, they just refund the money and let me keep the piece.
Anyway, it all depends on whether you paid by paypal or not. If you didn’t, you can still file a complaint with ebay. They have a reputation to protect and they are generally good to their buyers. Otherwise, there is always the threat of negative feedback which is important to sellers.
Above all, don’t get discouraged about buying Windstones. I have 365+ Windstones and many if not most of them have been purchased through ebay, the forum, or the factory. AND! we are lucky enough to have forum people who are very very good at mending broken Windstones and they take loving care of the rest of us who don’t know a glue pot from a paint pot!!! 😕 (I say hats off, kudos, and salutes to those talented menders of Windstones!!)
So hang in there, all is not lost! We have your back!!! 😀

Of the ones I didn’t get, my favorites were the blue oriental sun with the silver horns and the blue flame OW. The ones I have that are my favorites are the tiger cub and Olimpia’s Coliari male griffin.

Welcome to the forum!! In the thread 2 under yours, Jackid55 has a sale that includes 9 males of different colors. You might want to check out her selection and make an offer on one that you like. There may be some more males in other forum sales too. Good luck!!

in reply to: How old are Windstone Collectors #565348

I don’t feel like a “senior citizen” even though I will be 67 in March. I saw my first Windstone in about 1986 in a gift shop in Old Sacramento. He was a peacock male and I thought “That one!! I want THAT ONE!!!” I took my best friend down there to see it just to admire it. Well, he bought it for me for Christmas!! I bought a Ki-rin family-male, female, and baby soon after that and then stopped for about 20 years, then came back about 3 years ago. Due to ebay, shops, even yard sales, and this forum, I now have at least 370 Windstones in 10 display cases in my office (I haven’t counted lately). I am so proud of the collection and to be a Windstone collector! I carry some pictures around with me to show off to anyone who will stand still long enough to listen and look!! It is so much fun!! I think it is also wonderful to have a group/forum to talk to about Windstones that understands and shares the distinctive language that collectors develop among themselves and teach others about. Hurrah for us!!!

in reply to: Do you think I am nuts? #794947

No, I don’t think you are nuts either. I was driving on I-5 on one cloudy day with big cumulus clouds in the sky right after a big rainstorm had just stopped and I looked over to my left and there was a HUGE cloud covering about half the visible sky that looked like Jesus with his arms spread out like wings. I am not religious at all (although I am spiritual) but I was really impressed with this cloud and I pulled over and just watched it as it hung there. It stayed quite a while then metamorphosed into clouds that looked like small angels for a while, then moved on. I was amazed that it lasted as long as it did, and that no one else seemed to notice. It made a big enough impression on me that I have remembered it all this time. No changing beliefs, though, just confirmations.

in reply to: eBay sellers- Watch out for this buyer #795852

Have you tried taking this seller up with Paypal? I have had really good luck with Paypal backing me up as a buyer and it seems they would be interested in a bad seller because they have their reputation to protect and if they support buyers, they should be able to weed out the bad sellers as well. If Paypal is involved at all, that might be an option.

in reply to: "Fire and Ice" Old Warrior Dragon #795630

I may be off, but this dragon that is in Melody’s gallery, wasn’t it the one that she made only 2 off, gave one to a member who had stage four cancer, and raffled/auctioned off the other one to pay for her trip? Doesn’t that mean that this dragon was a OOAK and can’t/won’t be reproduced in this color combination again? I can understand repainting in with more fire, etc, but not this exact one. Anyone?

Thank you so much for your comments and support. I do feel better now (odd, isn’t it!) that I got so much support from you all and that I feel validated that I’m now “in the club” of people who got scammed by this seller, at the same time, I wish this “club” didn’t have to exist. I have only been scammed once before and that was worse. Many people knew who the scammer was and tried to catch her, but we couldn’t, she was a forum member and I hadn’t paid through paypal, so I lost the $458+ I was out. She had lots of negative feedback, but all she had to do was wait a year and it all went away so she could start over with a new name and #.
I did leave negative feedback on this one, though. I will tell ebay about her and I hope with their sophisticated technology they can get her off of ebay even if she changes her ID. It’s hard enough to trust that what you pay for you will get. Most of the time my luck has been good and I have gotten really good sellers who live up to their promises and make good on mistakes. But ones like this deserve to be punished severely because it causes so much trouble!! It’s hard work to have to mistrust people, which is why the scammers get away with their schemes.
Anyway, I really appreciate the support and I thank you all!
    Happy Holidays!!!

If you paid for him by paypal, you can file a dispute with them and they will investigate. You have only 45 days after the purchase to file. Then if you still aren’t satisfied, ie, gotten your money back, etc, you can file a claim. Paypal will make a judgment and if they find for you, they will pay you $200 up front and go after the seller for the rest. That means they will take it out of the seller’s account and if there isn’t any money in the account, they will put a hold on it so if any money comes into it, they will take it out and give it to you.
They have always been very good to me, (I had 6 claims and disputes going at one time once and came out fine on them. I had pictures and was timely on all the paperwork.) I had a similar claim where the item was a large wizard and the seller wrapped it in a teeshirt and 4 pieces of hard styrofoam, no peanuts or 2nd box. It arrived broken in many pieces!!. He said it was insured and to file with the PO who just laughed at me! He fought me, the PO, paypal, and ebay about it and it took months, but I got my money back!! ($758) I haven’t lost one yet and I really hope I don’t have such bad luck with sellers again! This one never sent the piece, so all I could do is get a refund.
If you didn’t pay for it by paypal (and that just means you went through paypal even if you put the charge on a credit card) you can file a small claims and go through the court, but that is a lot less satifactory, the filing fee is $50, and you have to appear in court where ever the seller is. That’s why I always pay by paypal and if I choose to, I can still put the charge on a credit card, if there is no money in the account.
If you are really stuck, Kyrin or DragOnfeathers do good repair work.
    Good Luck!! (Happy Thanksgiving!)

I found a black pegasus foal on ebay and was all excited because it’s the last piece I need to complete that collection. I bought the piece with no problem and after about a week I got an email from the seller who said she had forgotten the post office was closed for the holiday (Veteran’s Day) and she would have the piece sent out the day after. I wait and wait, then I look up her feedback comments and she has had her account locked by paypal for some reason not clear to me. However, the $200 I sent her had already been accepted and was in her account. So I wait some more, emailing every other day thinking all she has to do is just mail the piece, but without any response whatsoever. Finally I file a dispute and because it’s at the $200 limit, paypal finds for me and refunds the $200. The problem I’m having is that I wanted that piece A LOT!! and although I’m happy for the refund and prompt action by paypal, I’m still out the piece I was so looking forward to having and to complete that collection! I’m really sad about it and upset about not getting the piece. I left negative feedback on her (Fran Carpenter) but it doesn’t ease the disappointment any. I tell myself that there will be another one along sometime and it’s minor in the entire scheme of things, but still…
