yay for winning wings cheaper! π They will be worth it. I hope she does email you back soon abotu the shipping!
I found a link to the costume I was looking for last night (my computer was NOT cooperating!); if anyone is as big a fan of Moulin Rouge as I am here is a photo of the version of the Black Diamonds costume which would work for this trade: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/A_Dark_Horse/100_2673.jpg
The glass beaded fringe in the front wouldn’t be included (regular satin chainette fringe is used) but the customer paid the extra $75 for the real beading on the modesty panel.
Here is another one I did with the side view: http://www.crimsonvision.net/makingbd/may183.htm
The above ‘version’ usually goes for $650+ (yes, I know I am expensive π³ ) but I’ve already decided that if I win I’m going to give the winner a *really* good deal.
:hi:
*really wants the Unis*
Crimson Vision wrote:Ok,after thinking a bit on this I will offer up a custom creation. I will set a price cap *around* $550. This means that either I will create something and pay for all materials *OR* winning bidder gets $550 worth of labor hours and they supply materials. My costumes usually start at $250 and that is just for patterning, research and consultations; materials and labor get added on top of that.
If you want to PM me to discuss what you have in mind before you offer up a trade I am totally ok with that.
To give examples, here are some costumes that I have made in the past which would qualify for this trade (I provided materials for all of these):
Arwen (Lord of the Rings) inspired Wedding gown: http://www.crimsonvision.net/lotrarwenwedding/100_1406.jpg
Bridesmaids gowns for above wedding: http://www.crimsonvision.net/lotrarwenwedding/100_1416.jpg
Another Arwen inspired gown: http://www.crimsonvision.net/whitearwen/100_0643.jpg
‘Budget’ version Sarah from Labyrinth gown: http://www.crimsonvision.net/laby2/100_1707.jpg
Blue & silver colonial gown: http://www.crimsonvision.net/bluesilvercolonial/100_1687.jpg
Sexy ‘Swiss Miss’ gown: http://www.crimsonvision.net/almostdone/im000561.jpg
Green Fairy (just the costume, not the wings): http://www.crimsonvision.net/greenfairy/greensam7double.jpg
Lady Joker (just the silk suitcoat, not the wig/hat): http://www.crimsonvision.net/ladyjokre.htm
Cyber Geisha: http://www.crimsonvision.net/cybergeisha.htmI’ve obviously done alot more over the years & these are just a few examples. Please do PM me to discuss options if I do indeed win the Uni family.
Now some fine print:
It really depends on what someone decides on me making but the delivery time would most likely be 2+ months (sorry, no way I can make Halloween unless its a *REALLY* simple costume) from the time the winner is announced, we discuss their desires and I get accurate measurements. This would be a great thing for someone who goes to a really awesome New Years Eve costume party because I’m pretty sure you’d have it by then.
I will not make tightlacing corsets. Boned bodices, yes but not ‘real’ corsets.
I will not sew overly stretchy fabric (like spandex) nor make a unitard type costume. I cannot sew leather.
Accessories are usually seperate from the main costume; be sure to ask for them if you are concerned!
If you do not talk to me privately before you put in an offer for a trade and you win but want something that is worth more than the value I have set forth you cannot be mad. Here is me telling you a third time to PM me to discuss what you want before you offer a trade if I win the UNI family.
Ok, there is my offer. I know that was wordy but I’ve never worked in trade before so I’m trying to cover all the bases!
Heehee, that website is on my blog reader; its so funny. I read *alot* of blogs; here is another one you all migh find funny:
Has everyone seen this flap cat: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300350650265&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I love the coloring (have really wanted an almost all black flap cat!) except for the mustache! lol! Plus I am hoping for an eyes shut one.

I’ve tried to convince a few people to trade one of these for a long time.. it hasn’t worked yet.. π π
Heehee, a girl can dream! π

Nirvanacat13 wrote:Now THAT I would definitely offer a nice trade up for! I keep forgetting to ask if you make your own corsets too? You look like a busty girl like me and I know I need full/extra support in my garb/corsets (none of those flimsy Fredericks “corsets” for me!!)
I actually prefer to purchase corsets; I can make them but they are SOOOOO time consuming that it’s cheaper for me to buy and spend my time on other things. If you are looking for a corset I would be happy to send you my favorite links; just PM me and tell me what you are looking for!
LadyFirebird wrote:Crimson Vision wrote:I’m new here myself so am not sure of the value of the entire set of unis but I remembered someone offered their services in making a quilt for some items. So the items doesn’t have to be a Windstone–Laurie is looking for something grand at the end that she could raffle off for a charity of her choice. Looking at your costumes, I wouldn’t worry about setting the value low–they are fabulous! I say go for it! At the end of the week Laurie just looks at everything that has been offered and picks the best deal. If there is more than one best deal, she pulls from a hat. I see a lot of people here going to various faires and I’m sure wouldn’t mind having you make a costume for them. π
Thanks! Ok, so I looked at the prices form both the store and from http://ravnheart.com/windstone/index.php. New they cost $436 and the average total for them on Ebay was $350. So I’d figure I’d want to offer something that would be worth at least $500 to be in the running?
The think with offering a custom costume or gown is I would have to set a price cap on it; I can’t just say “I’ll make you whatever you want” as I’ve made costumes for thousands of dollars in the past. (Anyone got a Black Grand Unicorn to trade? Heh!) Plus I would have to actually MAKE the item so I couldn’t send right away; not sure if that would be ok.
If anyone wants to PM me with advice I’d sure appreciate it; I’d really like to bring home these Unis!
Hrm, does the trade offered have to be Windstone? I think I remember seeing non-Windstone stuff but I wanted to be sure before I started listing off stuff!
Can anyone give me an approximate value for the set? I ask only because I might decide to offer one of my custom gown/costumes or even a custom made one of your choice and wouldn’t want to set the value low. π³
eaglefeather831 wrote:Hmmm…in that case, maybe the big white ones would be the best. π Someone bid on them, and I am hoping that they won’t go very high, because they are how much I was wanting to pay for them. π I found a really nice snood on ebay, and it looks small enough for my thin hair. lol
Crimson-I just noticed the website link in your siggy, so I have browsed through it. Everything that you wear looks fantastic on you! πIf I were you I would message her privately and ask if she has any for direct sale since you are going to the faire so soon. Tell her your budget and see if she can work with you. I’d offer to sen my pair out for you to borrow but as I said they have a small hole in them. π³
Glad you like my costumes! I pretty much work out and diet all year just for the big costume event DragonCon every labor day. :p

Okay, here is the dress:
And I was thinking about these wings instead of the big whit ones:
What do you think? πLovely dress!
On the cellophane wings you will need to leave more space for them when travelling as they are much more delicate than the big ones. Both would look great though but if I had to choose I’d get the big ones. π
The wings totally lay flat and then you can bend the wire back out a bit when you put them on. The actual fabric parts slide on and off the wires so you can fold up and put them away. Just be careful if you decide to iron them back out.
The pic you see of me wearing them was taken in Atlanta when I lived in Boston; I packed them in my suitcase so I know they will fit in your car. π
How frustrating!! Did they at least give you an ETA on how long it will take to get processed now and get you your money?
eaglefeather831 wrote:VERY nice!! I have always wanted to dress in an Ever After replicated dress! Do you also know how to do your hair in different ways that would fit a renaissance theme? I have reaally long hair, and I have been wondering how to put it up. π
Well hairstyles vary with the time period but the easiest way to wear your hair up and back is in a ‘snood’. I have a few lovely handmade ones with pearls woven into them; I wore one this weekend:
They are really easy to wear, some people find them easier if they are attached to a headband or comb to keep them in place. They are really handy or keeping your hair looking neat in this Texas heat!
eaglefeather831 wrote:Oh! I love that white pair! I am sorry you burnt a hole in them π I might just get that one! I would imagine it would be very likely for them to get damaged because they are so big-is that true? I do love that fancyfairy website! Unfortunately, most of them are a little too pricy for me right now, but I believe I will bookmark it! Thank you! If you found more, then I wouldn’t mind that you post those links too! Also-with all of your costumes in your signature–could you post some pics of you in your costumes (including wings)? I would like to see them! π
The white wings are actually *very* well made and *very* sturdy. Since they don’t have a wire along the lower edge they billow around and don’t ‘break’. The only reason I messed them up is because I had the iron on too high when I tried to get the wrinkles out after them being in storage for so long. π³
Here is a pic of me with them on:
Here is me in another set of wings; a white feathered pari a friend made to go with my Ever After replica:
I think that’s all of the wing pics I have. π
