They are small….about 1″ long by just over 1/4″ wide. Thanx! I love the medium!
Any one inparticular that you know is actually matte? This can does say ‘matte fixative’….
Is it just me, or are there feathers on the back sides of the wings?
The only thing I would change is the shiny finish, I wish it was matte. The wings aren’t AS gold as they look in the photos. I took them with the sun right on her so the color would show up. In everyday light it’s not so obvious….
Thanks for the heads up about the interference paint! My Micheals doesn’t have a great selection of the fluid colors. I may try Liquitex next, they seem to have much better selection at my store. Maybe I’ll try folk art paints, dunno…
Ok, here she is all done. I got a ‘fixative’ thinking it would be a matte finish, cause it says matte on it….Well, it’s glossy…..
Now for a question. Does interference paint come in fluid or only heavy body? My store only had the heavy. Now when I put it on, I did cut it 50/50 with retarder, but it still went on really thick. I quick got a baby wipe and took most of it off. On the brown it looked like I painted gold right over it, not subtle at all. On the lighter colors tho it was fine….
Oh, one other thing….I noticed that the paint seemed to be rubbing off really easily. Mostly on the back, and I touched up most of it. I took my rings off thinking this may have been causing it. I really noticed it when I was antiqueing(which was a pain in the as*). I wonder if maybe I didn’t let it dry long enough??
Anyway, I like her. I’m quite proud of myself, even tho it sorta feels like a second grade art project 😆
Thanks! I’ll try darkening around the eyes, thanks for the tip! When she is all done today I’ll post more pics….
Sure….here is a pair of earrings and pendant I made using Art Clay. I made a ring too, but it isnt done yet….
Ok, here she is. She isn’t completly done yet. There are a couple spots on her wings I’m not happy with, but the more I messed with it, the more mess I made. I wish her eyes would show up more too, but maybe that’ll happen when the masking comes off. I did try lining her eyes with black, hated it, then tried ivory and didn;t like that too much either….maybe you guys have a suggestion?? Anyway, I don’t think she came out too badly, and when she gets antiqued I think I’ll like her more…
I still have some work to do on my wolf. I’m just looking at her from across the room and I can see I need to bring color down her wing tips some more. I gotta work on her face too, but I’m not sure what to do….she isn’t feeling photogenic yet 😉
That’s sorta what I thought….thanks!
Which comes first?
I’m having a lot of trouble getting a color blending gradation on my wolf. I’m trying to make an area go from brown to tan to ivory and having no luck. Everytime I try, it just gets muddy on me. I’m using the golden fluids & the golden retarder. I ended up mostly just painting over it, but left the chest the light/muddy combo. I’ll post pics when I get back this afternoon, maybe y’all can give me some pointers…
I’m headed off to micheals later to get some paints for the wings of my wolf and maybe some interference too….
Now if I could just get the courage to put paint brush to wolf, I’d be getting somewhere! I have the base coat done…
Yup, I’m gonna give it a whirl! It may turn out to be a flop, but it’ll be fun!
I think I have a sickness!! I took one look at that beautiful wolf done in pastels and said, I’ve got to try that! Off to ebay I went, found some chalk pastels, etcc… 🙄
I AM going to start a wolf today tho, come h*ll or high water…
